Moving in together..?

I thought occurred to me this morning, and wanted to share it with the Fab community to gauge their views and/or experience...

How long after dating someone do you find/did find it was appropriate to move in together?

Was it your suggestion or theirs?

I am not seeing anyone, I just wondered for future reference.

I think as you get older it looks less attractive to move in together.

For me …. never again

Previously I’ve found I’ve done it rather quickly, within a year

I've only lived with one person. We got together on new year Eve. I was already in the process of buying my house, which completed in the March. He moved in at the start of May. So 4 months. Might have been quicker if I'd already had the house.

Maybe quick, but it felt right. It was a mutual decision. And we've now been married over 10 years

My wife just gradually brought more and more of her stuff to my house over the first few months and then one day just didn’t go home. I don’t think we ever really had a discussion about it.

For us it was 3 years. We tested the water first with flat sitting for some friends for 2 weeks. We had stayed at each others places before that of course but I feel its different as you're in that resident and guest dynamic.

When it feels right, there is never an optimal time after meeting somebody for them to move in with you.

That was 10 years ago so I guess I surrendered pretty early.

That’s on our watchlist so I don’t get the reference. If she is she must be playing the long game.

I’ve always done it very quickly … like within a year or so. Sometimes less.

But If I had to do it again, I’d rather him moving in with me than other way around.

My house, my rules, my coffee

We've both done it too quickly and one of us has taken their time. It works out how it works out though if you want things to work, don't put off discussions till you have moved in. Discuss finance, responsibilities to the home and each other, how you will deal with problems and what flexibility you have within those boundaries. If it is important to one of you then it is important to both and you should discuss it and if you cannot find something that will work then moving in will end horribly.

I let a fwb stay here overnight once, I was astonished to find myself prowling like a territorial tiger.

So I think he'd have to pretty darn special to get through my mindset tbf.

We got our own place together 7 years into our relationship. Do it whenever it feels right for you every couple is different.

I relocated and moved in 6 months after we met. Six months later, on the anniversary of us meeting, he proposed and we’ll be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary in two weeks. Not bad for a fab meet

Last time I was with someone about a year and then we moved in together. Lived together for 10 years.

If it was to happen again it would be longer then a year as I now have kids and I wouldn’t want someone moving in unless I thought I was set for life with them.
