We knew a guy once years ago who invited us to his home for a meal. When we arrived at his house we were taken aback, he was basically landed gentry and clearly very wealthy. He and his wife talked quite casually about the times they took the children on holiday to France by driving to the local airport and loading the car on the plane.

Great hosts, we had a lovely relaxing evening

People who don’t try too hard. Surface look is pretty casual/normal - jeans, trainers, T-shirt. The cut, however, is just different and makes it standout but in an unobtrusive way. You can tell something is going on but can’t quite work out what it is.

A perfectly running old premium car. Not because they bought it and restored it but because they bought it new and then brought it to a main dealer for ever and maintained it with zero regard to cost

I remember in the early 1960s taking the car over to France by air, Two companies, Channel Air Bridge and Silver City Airways flew from Southend to Ostend and then a short drive into France and onward to LeMans for the 24 hour race.Happy days.

"Mustard or plum cord trousers, brushed cotton check shirt and brown Church brogues."

Add the Harris T jacket and substitute Church brogues with Barkers and that is me to a tee.
