Good morning, I guess it’s a special bank holiday edition of this today, so how does bank holiday Monday find you?

I’ve been ok-ish. I didn’t have the best night, my anxiety manifests itself in physical symptoms, most often strange sensations in my muscles that can disturb me at night and trigger my health anxiety about neurological disease. I’ve been taking my propanalol at times, but part of me knows that the only way to get rid of anxiety is to face up to and sit with the unpleasant feelings, so I’m aware that by medicating I’m prolonging the issue. I’m going to book back in with my cognitive behavioural therapist. I never intended to take a break but my son had covid then every week I’ve either not had the spare money or been busy. My trauma lies within my son’s surgery though and he now has another looking and I feel a bit stuck at the point I was at when I last had therapy so think I need to face up to it and try to move on (within therapy).

I started my own trainee hours as a counsellor last week. It was fine but I’ve been aware that I think I’m carrying some of that with me. I tend to suppress stuff so my priority really needs to be on how I can safely get this stuff out and not box it away with my own stuff, because that seems like a recipe for disaster!

I also have three assignment deadlines back to back, the first being the end of next week, so I need to crack on with those!

Quite a lot from me there this week, but how are you feeling?

Mixed week for me, feeling disappointed that am not very productive with my time but slightly pleased that at least still managing to get out of the flat each day

Starting back at therapy after the break for covid and back to trying to answer the question about why I don't see myself as others do and why I don't value myself

You’re very welcome! I’m glad you’ve got some positives in there to reflect on too as well as the bits you’re less happy about.

I think the answer to the question about how you see yourself is usually deeply rooted back in childhood, for me it definitely was. It can be painful unpicking the answers to these questions, be kind to yourself! x

That sounds like a lot of pressure on you SL. Be gentle with yourself. Hopefully you get your appointment sorted.

I had a bit of a meh wobble last week, too much to do and not enough hours in the day. I was totally wiped come Friday but hopefully this week will easier.

Morning everyone. I'm in a better headspace this week than I was 7 days ago. Not that it was bad. Just that weird flat/numb type.

Nothing has happened to make my mood better. Or maybe lots of tiny things have happened... idk.

Hi! I’ve been poorly ill with lurgey so lots of meds and appointments but I made it to work and I’m fighting thru! Headspace I feel pretty good but in need of hugs and cuddles for some reason which is unusual for me. Sending good vibes to everyone that needs them x

Thanks for the update StarflyLou, really pleased that you've started the placement but yes, just be aware of taking too much of it with you. I wish you well with what lies ahead and have every confidence in you. I know I say this quite often in my posts.

I've had a really good week - very busy, had some positive news with work that they'd like to offer me a new contract on the same terms to the end of the year and there's been some positive feedback, although the job I'm doing will change again slightly but I am okay with that.

Then the sports world that I also work in is back in full swing and I've been really busy with that, so worked on three games this weekend.

I've also got a great opportunity coming up for later in the year in the sports world and although there's no money involved, the experience that will give me makes up for it. Work have been fantastic about that too.

I have been asked just to watch that I don't overstretch myself so am grabbing that bit of time as and when I can, like today.

Wishing others good thoughts and strength.

You are certainly right, and I do love the other work that I do, but just that me-time is important!
