Joys of living in rural west Wales it was like living decades behind everyone else. You say that as a joke, I grew up in a house minus central heating and the windows froze on the insides. |

"where can you buy a chicken for £3?
£3.70 in the coop or 3 for a tenner "
So even in the '3 for' deal it's still £3.33 a chicken, not £3
I know you're only about 10% out but it's important to be accurate with numbers otherwise you end up looking like Bojo and trying to dupe everyone with false statistics. And it's a slippery slope from there.
Next thing you know you'll be promising 40 new hospitals, £350m a week or half a million extra employed people......

As a quasi-prepper for the last twenty years or so, this shtf event has been predicted, by prepping aficianados for many years
Inflation is going to rocket; food shortages will become common; thefts from supermarkets by people desperate for food for their children will be commonplace. Crime will become uncontrollable.
We're not in a good place right now, and this is only the start.
This is an apocalyptic view , but one founded on realism. |

It could be argued food is at it's cheapest and needed adjusting. A chicken in 1987 would have cost around £2 (£5 in real terms today). It's a moot point whether cheap food is a good thing, although I realise this depends on circumstances. |

I'm a shooting man and love having the debate about cruelty etc bla bla bla. One of standard responses is "do you eat chicken" and the answer is normally yes. Most chickens that you buy from the supermarket have a life which last 13 weeks. 13 weeks of living in captivity in an area less than 0.25 square metres. So me shooting a pheasant that's living in the wild and has a pretty much 50/50 chance of not getting shot and if they do has an instant death is cruel? Think about it next time you buy a £3 chicken ! |

Haha! Yes.
You claimed it was his fault for rising food prices. So just everything except chicken?

Nope not strictly true. Cawl is a broth made with meat and vegetables. To be any soup you'd have to add the main ingredient for example cawl madarch (mushroom soup).
Can imagine the uproar now if mushroom soup was served at a cawl a chan (cawl and song) or on St David's Day? Everyone would be absolutely tamping |

nearly all the major supermarkets have chickens starting at around £2.50, only a fiver for extra large one...joint of pork always cheap too.
its only lamb and beef a bit pricey but if your a family of 4 its still only 3quid a head. |

Maybe in the olden days or in specific parts of Wales it might mean a specific dish. But modern Wales uses as a word for soup. The people of West and South Wales make up words that the rest of the country don’t have a fuckin’ clue what they meant though |

"I maybe rather old, but chicken was a luxury meat when I was little.
With a chicken that cheap, who do you think was suffering for it to be that price? The supermarket?
I remember back in the day when my mom would buy a boiler chicken and make soup from it.
My mam would make cawl from lamb bones, actually she still does and it's lush. Bet your mom's soup was lovely too
I've never tried Cawl.
Yes. Moms chicken soup was so good
Cawl = soup in Welsh.
Everyone would be absolutely tamping
Maybe in the olden days or in specific parts of Wales it might mean a specific dish. But modern Wales uses as a word for soup. The people of West and South Wales make up words that the rest of the country don’t have a fuckin’ clue what they meant though
Just checked with my Gog mates and nope they agree with me. And maybe the national botanical gardens where I had cawl last weekend are wrong too. Maybe it's where are from that is wrong? And there's nothing wrong with my spoken or written Welsh, diolch yn fawr.
And yep I do make up new Welsh words which are then put into the Welsh dictionary, being a terrible hwntw that I am
Os dim cawl, Beth felly yw y gai cywir am ‘gawl’ yn Gymraeg? What is the Welsh word for ‘soup’ - the general term.
My goodness me I think I explained myself perfectly a few responses ago. Look up cawl as being one of Wales national dishes if you want/need further clarification for yourself.
"
I did. I asked quite simply what the Welsh word for soup was. Quite simply a 1 word answer will suffice. |
