Hiya, Paul here, Eric Clapton wannabe .

Is there anyone local to Oldham who could help me start to learn acoustic guitar. Yes I have the books, and no I can't play.

I think you learn better by somebody showing you the ropes, or strings in this case.

Would really appreciate it, and whilst I am off work ..... Sadly , would like to use my time constructively .

Thankyou , and if you can help I would be grateful .

Go on YouTube, you'll soon pick up the basics.

Then get onto Ultimate Guitar and find the tab for some songs you like.

And buy a capo, best couple of quid you'll ever spend

I am a shit guitarist but that's how i got to the shit level I am today, other than jam nights in the local pub.

Yeah I was gonna say go on YouTube too. One of the best things about the net is being able to learn visually.

Capo is a device that sits on the fret board , not expensive and very useful.

A capo changes the pitch of the guitar, you'll find a lot of your favourite songs won't be played in 'open' tunings.

Loads of Oasis tunes and loads of Crowded House tunes, for starters
