By law enforcement - well, I hope it never comes to that

Might locate a long lost relative who's something rather special, or solve a crime committed by a great uncle or something less wonderful but essential for others to move on.

The police can take your DNA amongst other things without your permission although I believe they can only hold it for 3 years,it may be different if you are convicted of a crime.

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

Depends who was holding it and for what reasons. I’ve no issue with it being held by police or whatever as I have no intention of committing any crimes, but the idea that an insurance company or potential employers might access it in terms of genetic predispositions and using that data to make decisions about suitability or premiums is shady as fuck.

So having a database of the criminals jizz is a good idea... But for the vast majority of law abiding folks who haven't left their jizz behind .. What value does it add?

If your relative jizzed on a thing, you can help get them stitched up by helping the police narrow it down to a degree of relationship to you?

Would you really put 100% trust and certainty in law enforcement to never misuse such a database?

I will never unequivocally trust law enforcement, police, or any other large group of people with power.
