Work fights

So me and my work mate first met about 2 months ago, and well our relationship has been quite a roller coaster. I mean every week, we have a full scale fight. Sometimes it's so heavy we feel like killing each other(over absolutely nothing). Fortunately by days end/week it's kisses and cuddles and we're like 'what was all that about'? To be honest he's got a short fuse and I keep pressing his buttons.

Maybe just be quiet more often throughout the day and you won't wind him up so much.

A calm quiet workplace can sometimes be better!

That doesn't sound very healthy at all. Do others get pulled into your fights by proxy?

Have you considered speaking to HR? or not pressing his short fusey buttons if you know what they are and can avoid them without impacting your work?

You don't have to like people you work with but you do have to work with them and winding people up to get a reaction is just childish and immature.

You sound like you’re proud of the fact you wind him up and cause these big arguments!

My advice….. grow up and get on with what you’re paid to do!! There’s people out there that would bite your hand off to get you job and knuckle down and do it!

I would put you both on a disciplinary and monitor your behaviour and if your fights/ confrontations carried on I would sack the pair of you...its a Workplace...for adults...not a primary School...

there really isn't people who would bite the hand, if someone can't get a job then I honestly don't know what they are doing. There are jobs literally everywhere

It doesn't matter where you work. The fact you wind others up in work to get a reaction for your own pleasure is immature.

I have a love/hate relationship with the boss of my business.

Most days I'm expected to work countless unpaid hours, do jobs I'm not really qualified to do, don't get paid when sick, struggle to get a day off let alone a holiday and quite frankly if it wasn't for me the business wouldn't make any money at all and would collapse. Basically the boss is a huge knob.

Then again I do give him a hand shandy on a regular basis and he gets to fuck the wife whenever he wants to.

Most mornings I'd gladly punch him in the face though.

Ahh you know exactly what I am going through: some days you can't stand the sight of each other, then other days you'll do anything for your friend. But I'm sorry I wouldn't never sleep with his girlfriend/wife and vice versa. But if it was a lesbian work mate then it's probably a different matter.

A is the husband. Presumably he is self employed and refers to himself as his own boss (thus describes himself as a knob). He gives himself a regular hand shandy (wank) and gets to fuck his boss' wife (he is his own boss, ergo fucks his own wife).

Mystery solved!

Sounds to me like you and your workmate are a couple or married and are having a lovers tiff each day probably caused by sexual frustration. Treat him to a meal out then get a hotel room have a talk to clear the air then have a good sex session together.

You might find that this helps

Well we have accepted now that we're ALWAYS going fight. But the moral to the story is, if you can both laugh it off afterwards then you know you'll have a good working relationship.

"If I thought for a second that my staff were only there for the fights and to wind each other up they wouldn't be there very long.

A happy work force is a prod work force. Even if their at each others throat.

Surely a happy workforce isn't one that's always fighting??

Well we have accepted now that we're ALWAYS going fight. But the moral to the story is, if you can both laugh it off afterwards then you know you'll have a good working relationship. "

Really depends what the fights are over OP. Are they about production or just childish back and forth?

I'm in shopfitting a high pressure quick turnaround environment. We argue all the time. Usually about standard of workmanship or timings of jobs being handed to next stage for completion. This I believe is healthy. It shows we care about our standards of work and handing job back to client on time.

Where as meaningless bickering I think is highly counter productive and could potentially damage morale of those around.

Or as I like to refer to it as. Being a mood hover

Our fights are generally all work related. And still learning about each other. I know now which buttons to press and when or not. He doesn't press any of my buttons but he does throw tantrums(that's when the buttons come out). But its all good. One of the foreman couldn't stop praising a job we did Monday. He was so happy. We have good days and bad. But it's all love.

"Had some good news this morning 2 of my colleagues txt to say the scary woman as we refferd to her has left! Thought I'd not seen her for a while! She was horrid to everyone! Happy days! X"

Probably the best thing for her too. She can work somewhere where she isn't referred too as "the scary woman"

Someone described me to a new colleague as a Rottweiler...New Colleague helpfully told me this, she was a little taken aback when I said "you better believe it, she's not far wrong"

I think I have a pot stirrer in my midst
