"I wish I could sit in the sun and tan but my skin doesn’t react well the only thing I get is prickly heat .All my tan is either out of the bottle or a salon ."
Really? How come? What kind of reaction?
I’m obsessed with the smell of sun screen/creams
Like reminds me of summer |

One reason I hate the building trade. Lovely summers and I’m stuck inside working through the best of it
Luckily I’ve got some tanning stuff I take that makes you tan 10x quicker so I get out in it as much as I can in the weekend
Little pro tip too, not exactly tan related. Most of the year in the UK the sun isn’t strong enough to make any vitamin D. Visiting a sun bed 1-2 times a fortnight can do magic for SAD |

I have two colours. Milky white and red. I burned myself sitting in my garden in mid March, for context. I have to wear factor 50 and limit time in the direct sun because I just burn. I wear a massive hat, sunglasses and suncream |

My mam always covered me up as kid. Though I didn't have those images, always been told it's a sign of skin damage and that it will make me wrinkly. On a quest at the moment to find a suncream that is compatible with my skin and can be used with make up. |

I literally just wanna get out the bath after 5
Mins and I start fidgeting and roll around like a seal and then I get wound up and leave. Waste of precious water
On the other hand when I lay tanning I’m like a piglet in a muddy field having the best time

Yes, absolutely.
There's a Nivea matte sunscreen that works under makeup, not good for reapplication and company politics not ideal... Otherwise not sure. I tend to seek shade and hope for the best when I have a full face on |

I'm on a corner plot and overlooked in all directions.
I can't sit in the sun for more than 20 mins anyhow - my translucent skin frazzles me to the bone!
I wrote to Jimmy Saville back in the day, asking for a sun tan (days before fake tan existed); never got a reply. Probably a blessing.

Never been a fan of sunbathing - gets too hot, sweaty and boring plus even with my eyes shut it hurts them to lay facing the sun.
Being blonde I can burn fairly easily but if I'm careful will tan pretty well. Certainly don't avoid the sun and love when there's a real colour difference from my back to my bum. Does it age my skin? Sure. Does it have a cancer risk? Certainly. Can I stop myself getting old and dying? Absolutely not. Given the that the main choices of death in the UK are some form of cancer or dementia I'm not convinced by the 'you'll get cancer' argument. I'd rather die at 60 with wrinkled skin and memories of long sunny days outside than 90 with flawless skin not able to remember my own name.

I bloody love it… I make sure I use sun protection .. not to save me burning… as I don’t do that… but just to keep my skin moisturized and protected.
I know there’s a risk of melanomas and such .. but for me.. I choose to sunbathe as having a colour instead of milky white just makes me feel better.
I never use sun beds… just the natural sun when the weather allows. |

They have genetic adaptations to the higher UV in the form of darker skin pigmentation. It's not a 100% control against skin cancer, but having more melanin will have a protective function. People with milky white skin are not adapted for the UV levels at all. I can't sit in the garden in March without burning, for heaven's sake. I sat outside to work on the Friday before Mother's Day and burnt my chest, my forearms, my nose and my scalp. |

I imagine the lighter complexion have troubles x I am considered olive skinned so I can easily take a good amount of sun before I start burning. But if I’m not careful I burn too x especially the face |

I agree and disagree with you, I will go out on hikes etc in the sun as long as I'm able to tolerate the heat. But I don't go out of my way to sit facing the sun either.
The you'll get cancer is a real threat though, especially to someone with my fairness of skin. It's about making a risk assessment on quality of life Vs risk. It doesn't impact on others so it's individual choice. The only time I get really wound up is when I see babies and toddlers sun burnt. |

I don't mind it but I don't go out of my way to do it. Maybe if I'm on holiday or having a beach day, that would be the only time I actively lie down to bathe.
I did tan a good bit last year for the first time in about 8 years, but fuck me, it made my skin horrible and gave me wrinkles.
As much as I like a tan, it isn't worth the damage for me to do it often.
I'm always in SPF50 even on cloudy cold days. |

I feel so much better with a tan and I am already changing into my summer plumage.
In winter time my skin keeps residually melanised because it sees so much sunshine the rest of the year.
I prefer hanky panky with similar complexions or darker. |

Totally agree with that, allowing a child to burn is neglect at best.
There's a big difference between burning and tanning. I never deliberately sun bathe but I love the feel of the sun on my skin while doing stuff and am pretty good at recognising when it's getting too much. I'll deliberately let myself tan so that I can manage more activities without having to worry if I'll burn or not. This time of year is a nuisance, winter skin means any exposure needs to be carefully monitored, by August I can normally get away with being outside all day with just a cap and a tee shirt needed from 11 - 3ish an no stinky, greasy lotion.

I love the feeling of the sun on my skin but I have always been careful not to burn and to go too dark and when I had an allover skin check last week, was told my skin was not only free of any moles but also much younger looking than my age.
Sunshine for 15 minutes or so tops, and only very occasionally, but I would rather be paler than damage my skin. |
