Portuguese Man of War jellyfish have swum onto English and Welsh beaches. They are one of the most poisonous jellyfish. Swimmers and dog walkers beware.. Do not touch these creatures..

As opposed to all the other jellyfish that you should definitely touch.

This has been happening for a while Tom. Old news.

Still, the advice is solid. Don't touch the stingy things.

There are much more dangerous jellyfish out there

As someone who has been stung by these "buggers" innumerable times, including as a small child, you overestimate the harm they can do, and seem to underestimate the ability of British people to recover from a non poisonous sting.

"Cape town deploys shark nets.. surely our coastal resorts can deploy some sort of floating defence to keep these buggers away from our shores...

People on here poke fun but a small child may never recover from the poison from these poisonous buggers

As someone who has been stung by these "buggers" innumerable times, including as a small child, you overestimate the harm they can do, and seem to underestimate the ability of British people to recover from a non poisonous sting.

Some are being deliberately obtuse..

All we need are boons around our beaches that will keep the buggers out and the coastguard should dispatch them quietly and without fuss outside the boons so locals and holidaymakers can enjoy the beach...these buggers float so easy to defend if we organise ourselves instead of poking fun

So what you're saying is that the British need to be shielded, protected from this threat that will otherwise overwhelm them.

A "threat" that Australian toddlers shrug off.

Truly, the British are weak, in your view. Maybe they need to eat their greens so they grow up big and strong like Australian children?

Nah, we just need to go back in time to convince our ancestors to become criminals and thus pass on this fortitude that Australians seem to have. But saying that, they would all be shipped off to australia anyway, damn it!

Ok.

Clearly given the catastrophic invasion of mildly inconvenient fauna, the British people need to be - according to your view - toughened up considerably.

Far too soft. Scared of nothing. Maybe British strength has been exported.

Caused by the tide / currents. They don’t need shooting but steering back to the water
