So once again my trusted Honda has broken down on me. Okay I've had her around 12 years now. She's 16 years old with 175,000 miles. But lately, past 3 years the electric keeps going flat. I've been looking at a newish car, but in 9 years the government is going to ban the sale of all new combustion cars. So do you get an electric car or another diesel? Bearing in mind I live a forest of terrace houses. Basically where would 95% of mancunians charge their car at night? Surely we can't go to a garage and sit there for hours to charge? |

have you had the battery tested ? Most car part shops will test it for you for free  |

If the battery and charging system are in good order, it's likely that you have a current drain somewhere. If you have the tools and the knowledge, it's not terribly difficult to track it down usually. |

Doesn't mean it's not though, I've had them fail in 18months before. As others have said get it tested to eliminate then move on to charging circuit then hunt for parasitic drain |

I’d still get it tested I’ve had new batteries in the past faulty but it could be as someone has said power drain my old e60 5 series had power drain it turned out to be the car not going to sleep apparently and a new chip sorted it that’s the problem with modern cars to many things to go wrong hope you get sorted |

My car has always been reliable. But since she hit 120,000 miles, things just started wearing out. I still get the milage out of her. I was supposed to drive down Plymouth this morning. But she still won't start. |

My car starting upgrade killed my battery, it doesn’t turn all the way off like the old one did…
Invested in a battery charger with a repair function (if your battery is going flat regularly it can build up crap on the plates and fail to then charge properly) and trickle charger, sorted |
