If I was taking you I think it would be first… book into a hotel, drop out bags. Go for a spot of lunch, along the river somewhere cool. Admire the view! (You) go do a bit of sight seeing, take photos, have a stroll through the a park, take you shopping for the evenings attire. Go out for a nice meal somewhere then hit soho, shorditch or Camden. Depending on our mood. Then back to the hotel for tea and biscuits. xx |

"A day in London, what would you do…."
Mi did once, and promised I’d never return. Such a big disappointment, yes there’s some landmarks but it felt busy and a tone of greed about it.
As much as I have a love hate with my home town, I missed Manchester that weekend. |

When I go into town I love doing new exhibitions that are on. Street food. Cute coffee shops. All with friends. One thing about London is it’s beautiful and you never run out of things to do. And it’s so cheap and easy to get around.
Super expensive to live here though |

If I only had a few hours? I'm assuming it's nice weather so I'd want to spend time outdoors.
A river cruise, then a nosey round the city calling into as many of the Wren churches as I could manage, stopping off for a cuppa and a wodge of cake at the cafe in St Nick's, maybe calling into one of the many little museums or galleries in the area.
Back onto the tube to Euston and the train home again. |

Walking tours are great, really good way to learn the history of a specific area of the city. I did one of Chelsea, was really good. Can find them online then just join the group usually outside a tube station and pay cash to the guide, around £10 I think.
The the usual museums etc. I like the V&A best of all.
Afternoon tea is always fun too, I have been for a few, really liked the one in the Hilton on Park Lane, think it is the Podium Restaurant, usually get a voucher on Groupon to reduce the price.
Then I just enjoy a mooch and seeing how the other half live, where possible walk rather than take the tube. See more stuff. I am really nosey so enjoy that sort of thing. |

As I live in London, it doesn’t count. But I’d take someone off the tourist path and show the more residential cool places in North London (little Venice is so cute) and West London . Also south has some really nice things to do and see x
Go eat at some nice places by the river and be away from the craziness of central probably
I freaking love London
So yeah x |

"A day in London, what would you do…."
Our first date, organised by Winston;
Honour.
Covent garden.
Camden Lock.
Borough Market.
Harmony.
Walk back along the South Bank.
We've had so many great days out in London.
My surprise treat for Winston:
London bus tour.
Hard Rock Cafe.
Bomber command memorial.
Van Gogh experience.
Waffles in Soho.
Cocktails in the Shard.
We love London, there's always so much to do.
And it doesn't have to cost a fortune.

I do like exploring bits of London. Love some of the markets.
Borough Market is always a go to, and I like Spitalfields and portobello road. I love walking through many of the parks (quiet sunday mornings in spring and summer are lovely) I'm also a big fan of finding proper old pubs or quirky bars |

Now that does surprise me. The Skywalk, go up and touch the best c*ck in the land if feeling brave you can now abseil back down.

I know London quite well so if it was just a day I will just wonder around some familiar places and soak the ambiance, have a light lunch probably somewhere on Shaftesbury Avenue or near by and take a stroll on the South Bank. I would certainly avoid all the touristy crowded places, markets etc. However someone who hasn't been or does not know London well, will probably opt for a completely different itinerary |

Yeah it's obvious but Westminster is still worth looking at even when Big Ben is covered in scaffolding I still would. From there cross the river south and take the steps by the ceramic lion and walk along the southbank east.
This walk will take you past the London Eye, The Tate Modern, Aquarium, Dungeon, Shakespeares Globe etc and lead you to Borough Market via Francis Drake's Golden Hind. Avoid the tourist traps, there are many, plus all the food and drink places are shit as are the pubs..avoid. Just take in the architecture (that spans centuries) and the river traffic. By all means pop in the Tate Modern, it's beautiful and it's free and faces off against St Paul's across the river. Like Wren and some Victorian industrialist having a staring contest. You can criss the millennium bridge to visit St Paul's but I'd carry on east.
If the tide is low you can walk along the beach. There are many staircases along the bank leading down to it. People go beach combing and buskers play impromptu gigs down there.
There's a skate park covered in decades of graffiti. Kids from all over the world come to skate there. It wasn't intended for skaters, they claimed it and have fought against eviction for decades.
There's loads more along the way here that I've forgotten, but when the path leads you away from the river you're at Borough. Its market is eye wateringly expensive but it is filled with tastes and smells you won't find anywhere else. Try some samples and buy some cheese. I once accidentally spent £25 on a selection of mushrooms though so watch it.
If you want to eat and drink at this point I'd go to the Kings Arms (not to be confused with the Kings Head nearby) proper London pub with decent home made food and not tourist prices. Its tucked away which keeps it local. If you're early enough in the Day Terry's Cafe is nearby and might be the best greasy spoon in the whole city. Strongly recommend.
I'd not want to walk much after that so I'd get an uber to drop me near Tower Bridge (because how can you not go there???) Cross over and wander around The Tower still amazes me it 1000 years old. Round the back of that is some of the remains of the old roman Wall that is c 1600 years old. Amazing really.
I'd go back south and have a few pints in The Anchor Tap after that day of walking. Lovely hidden pub and dirt cheap for round there. |

That’s a good day out. I’d walk to tower from borough though. Cut through London Bridge, take the diagonal to the river and come out just past the Belfast, great view of the Tower & Tower Bridge. Walk over the bridge, walk the cobbles on river side to take in the Tower and views back over to the south.
Then as you say head north to see the old London walls, still standing strong between the modern structures, great view from the back of Leonardo hotel, along the old wall modern structures either side to a view of the Tower. Then if a weekend escape the hustle and bustle and walk through the City, the mixture of old & new merging together coming into Leadenhall Market. Head west, through the old streets and come up the back St Pauls. Then head back south of the river over the Millennium Bridge (the wobbly one) great night time views each way. |

I think I'm just biased against that shopping mall they built East of London Bridge. You're right tho, shouldn't miss HMS Belfast. Some wag of a mathematician worked out the trajectory of the big guns and if they were fired they'd take out Toddington services on the M1. |

Street photography around Camden, south bank, borough market , into town for the secret comedy club or a fancy dinner at aqua shard or drinking around Waterloo station…. Too many choices ! |

Just a day? How long are we talking here?
Camden market - then to borough (is that the foodies one?) for lunch. Off to Leicester Square to find discount tickets to a theatre performance - then a museum or gallery (loads I’ve still not done)
Then dinner somewhere nice (I like Cote’s Brasserie - not too expensive - used to go a lot with my oldest when she worked in London).
Then - if I’m not staying over - I’d fall into an exhausted but happy heap on the way home. |

Borough is now the foodie hipster place, my family had a stall there for over 100 years then a 1000% rent rise as they don't want real traditional stalls there just fake ones |

The Wallace Collection, in Manchester Square. There's an inner courtyard: art followed by high tea. And then a quick stroll to Selfridges nearby to ogle at expensive handbags that only DiamondCougar or Magneto can afford. |

Visit the British Museum, browse through Forbidden Planet, have some lunch, take a trip round HMS Belfast as I haven't been in years. Afterwards maybe drop by a strip pub I used to visit and see if any of the dancers are still there from before covid. |

Lots of good recommendations above: the covered piazza at the British Museum is simply stunning.
One museum often overlooked is the Design Museum, if that's your thing (which is now right next to Holland Park, which is also lovely)... |

“Swingers” crazy golf bar near Oxford Circus is a lovely way to spend the afternoon, and who doesn’t love the title |
