To find this thread just use FORUM SEARCH for 'emoji' etc.
Apart from being fun I think emojis can make threads shorter and actually easier to read! |

I included (puzzled) as the current 'confused' one just looks a little too daft to me!
Also (re my old thread) I've added all the ones currently shown to us as I find having them all in one tab really useful to me. Also I'm pretty sure this is now up to date?

I thought that emoji was angry / frustrated... |

I thought that emoji was angry / frustrated... "
--I know what you mean, but it's actually a question mark though : - ? I'd like to use it as a genuine (sometimes even pointed) query, but it looks to me like it's saying "Sorry I must be thick!"-- |

"I would like to see emoticons disabled entirely so people have to communicate clearly with actual words. "
-Have you seen some people's attempts at words on here?
Fab isn't exactly a hotbed of emojis, I just think they make a really basic forum easier to follow. Everyone knows it's actually quite hard to follow multi-quoted posts on here.- |

Even mangled and misspelled words carry more meaning than Fisher Price hieroglyphics.
Yes, the Fab forum's quote function is twenty-five years out of date, but that's a completely separate usability issue. |

-- It's not a separate issue at all though surely? Anything that helps to make extended posts here more readable cannot be bad, as it means people will follow things more.
And the ' ' emoji in particular is more meaningful than quite a few posts I've seen on here imo.
Think about the ones most requested, such as (facepalm) and (applause). Would you really rather people always had to write those sentiments out?
This is the Lounge of Fabswingers mate , it's not Discuss! You are talking as if people are expected to use these things when most people actually don't. -- |

"Haven't we got enough? "
Ferrets?
Do you want more for your trousers?
Despite the few holes, I think it's to good to encourage Fab to update this place once in a while I think. They could probably do a bit more with even this old software I think.- |

"To find this thread, just use FORUM SEARCH for 'emoji' etc
So I need to find this thread first to see your instructions to find this very thread?
"
--Well yes lol - somehow. Obviously people will first see this thread when it's around the top of the currently-active thread list (like now), but it can only get back up there through new posts! The whole idea is for people to come back to this when they need it (me especially tbh) - which has to be through Searching the title if it's fallen down the posting list. -- |

Emojis make posts *less* readable, though. Yes, I would rather people always wrote out what they actually mean. There's a reason we have written language and don't resort to Pictionary to express ourselves. |

There are a few keyboard-based unicode symbols that work here too (I wish I added them above):
--------------
• .... L-Alt with 7
™ .... L-Alt with 153
© .... L-Alt with 169
--------------
You can either
• Copy&paste them directly into your post
or
• Turn NumLock on
• Press the Left Alt key and type in the number on your number pad (which is the pad on the right of your keyboard).

(kiss) (mouth) (lips) (xxx)
(tick) (check)
(warning) (caution)
Sadly there is more chance of a brand new forum (with this one being archived) than any movement here I think.
I think it is possible though, I don't think this is entirely software restricted to exactly what we have.

"I think NotSoPøsh needs her very own emoji. Say, something like (elizadolittle)
"
--I would fucking love my own signature emoji, literally to sign off with. Can you imagine if there was a way to upload one and make it just our own? Most of the ones on here are just bytes in size.
We only have main profile pics as avatars, but like I say this software is so old that those kind of things won't change unless the forum itself is replaced. |

"Just the ability to use the emojis from our phones / keyboards would be nice!"
-You mean all of them together?
I've just looked on my Android/Samsung phone and noticed that the rainbow emoji has been added to the list they show you (which are all very small both to see and press on the phone I think!). It doesn't yet appear on the full website version though, so it's not in my 1st list above.
Maybe the tiny size of them on the phone is the problem here.-

I was so relieved when they added the ferret one. I was struggling to get my points across without it.
I think they should have some sexual ones, like boobs and a cock. At the very least they should have an aubergine. |

To save space in the forums what about:
(Is squirt just pee?)
(Why can't I get a meet?)
(I'm going to pretend I'm insecure about my penis so you all visit my profile)
(Covid conspiracy nonsense)
I'm sure there's more that I'm missing. |

I'm pretty sure the above will work for everyone here, but of course a lot of even this-type won't (some need to be installed in some way). So be careful when you spot one that looks original on your personal phone or whatever - it likely won't appear for everyone else on Fab. --pt |
