It depends on how or why. If its done in a serious manner to make one's self sound big, clever, impressive etc then it's a bit lame. If it's done to add a bit of comedy or interest to a story then nothing wrong with it at all. Most stand up comedians make a whole career out of doing just that. |

If it's your own story it can either be good or bad depending on your reasons for doing so.
If it's someone else's story that's a whole different kettle of halibut and is rarely if ever seen in a positive light. |

I Found myself doing that yesterday.

We all do it to ourselves all the time. The narration that we tell ourselves to explain our lives is always embellished, we routinely invent motives for our actions without even knowing we're doing it.
Split brain experiments are both fascinating and scary in what they reveal.
