Fully grown men on e-scooters.

Expediency trumps dignity?

I see mainly teenage boys dressed mainly in black with hoods up. Little shoulder bags and expensive trainers. Perhaps it’s to avoid wearing the trainers out?

I wish most of them weren't on them, any age and gender.

I'm sure if my hearing was acute enough, I'd be able to detect the sound of vaginas drying up with every woman they pass on the street.

100% this. You can’t see them in their full ninja outfit at night as they weave all over the place. People will get killed and then hopefully they will ban the things on the road.

Also I dunno OP, could be my youth talking but I think they’re cool and a decent mode of transport. Not sure they’re used for sex appeal

Doesn’t matter who’s using them, they are a bloody menace. The number of times I’ve nearly been hit by a loony on one who isn’t paying attention is unreal. It’s the worst part of having to work in Bristol

Only if you don’t ride an E-scooter to the supermaket, don’t wear a hoodie and don’t carry a pouch/man bag.

Depends where you are in the world. I spend a lot of time in Barcelona and they are amazing for gettig around. Tens of thousands of people have them but then the city is great and full of cycle paths and very pedestrian friendly.

Confident people don’t give a fuck, and can rock any look.

Insecure people on the other hand….

Of course they are effective and cheap to use, very convenient and probably better for the environment than most other modes of transportation, all of this aside, there is something undeniably naff about them

Whizz past me and get there quickly, but you look like a plum

They aren't legal on the roads are they, Apart from the towns that have "trials"?

Neither are they insured. Seems weird as if it was a moped they have to be licensed and insured and wear a crash helmet. But because its an "e" something... All bets are off.

Illegal on our roads unless as a hire based government backed scheme, police I think has the right to confiscate and destroy them, but don't quote me

They're the modern day equivalent of those 50cc hairdryers/scooters that used to be de rigour among the yoof

They should make them legal! Not just the hire ones x

I was in Rome a couple of weeks ago and they were a pain. Not so much people riding them but the hire ones are just dumped all over the city centre. Pavements are a minefield with them lying about. A real trip hazard or forcing you on the road.

Terrible things. Just walk!

Cheltenham has a “trial” and they are ridden on pavements, wrong way down one way roads etc.

I can see that they could be a good mode of transport but given they are basically ridden by sub 16 year olds who think anyone in their way deserves the middle finger then my opinion is not positive.

Bring back NSU Quickly and Mobylette mopeds!

All the rage in Morocco and Tunisia, and poorer countries, who require cheap reliable and simple transportation.....

Run one for a week on half a pint of petrol!

Wonder who's getting the back hander to push these death traps.... If they are the solution... Then what exactly is the problem?

Ok, I don't agree with the use of them as I feel they're too fast for the pavements and not raod safe so there needs to be more regulations around them.

However, to say any men that uses them lacks dignity is a bit harsh, don't you think?

It was a tongue in cheek comment, but the more I see this phenomenon, no I don't think it's harsh at all.

Not used them but work in Bristol, so have become accustomed to dodging them.

The legal ones aren't too bad. Geofenced so their speeds drop in pedestrianised areas. But still ridden by yobs who have no concept of the rules of the road.

And great for the environment - until the storage warehouse goes up in flames.....!

Whoa there luddites. Have you ever ridden one? They're so handy. They're probably here to stay so better to learn to live with them.
