Ardal O'Hanlon, who is an accomplished comedian from Carrickmacross, County Monaghan in Ireland; son of the former local GP, and an actor who was Dougal in Father Ted.
A highly intelligent, wise and stoic philosopher!

I have to agree with you there. He is/was the most self-obsessed surrealistic four-legged wooly know-it-all.
But he was more erudite and sagacious than Mèlí and KC² put together. |

For me this had to be Sir Terry Pratchett (RIP). A man of great compassion, wisdom and very observant of human nature but best of all with an ability to present all this in a way that's superficially frivolous and humorous.

That Einstein bloke definitely lacked wisdom because he didn’t believe in a god. |

"Morgan Freeman Px "
Can't think of a better person. He has a voice that could make you believe anything he said. But he also makes things easy to understand when he hosts through the warm whole |

Mr
Thanks very much for reminding me of this great writer!
Genius is not to strong a word for his work. Often people have a derisory sneer on their face when i try to explain his innate knowledge of the human traits that we all have. They think fantasy novel and dismiss out of hand/
I was devastated when he was diagnosed and then passed.
We are missing and icon whose true statue may never be realised

I tend to find people of faith who suggest atheists aren't wise are themselves unwise. I somehow doubt the likes of Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking and Douglas Adams are/were devoid of wisdom.
Remember: we're all atheists, I just believe in one god less than you!

Celebs- I’d love to spend time with Denzel Washington, Daniel Kaluuya and Akala. They seem really wise.
In terms of other people, I don’t really know many that are wise but two of my old teachers definitely qualify. I spoke to one yesterday and love him very much. One has passed but we kept in contact and she was full of wisdom for me always. |

Comes across as wise and being wise are two different things.
There's too much emphasis these days on rhetoric and confidence over data. Which is part of why we're in the mess we're in, in so many areas of public life. |

Aye, the chapters are called Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, Corinthians 1 & 2 etc... " a work of fiction can't be a biography. |

"This is possibly an unpopular opinion but I don't think Stephen Fry is as wise as he's made out to be. I also reckon he'd be the first to agree
I think he's intelligent. Not necessarily wise."
Yes, I'd agree with that.
My dad says "knowledge is knowing what you know, wisdom is knowing what you don't know" and I think that's true |

Brian Cox
Left D-Ream
Became possibly the world's best scientific presenter who's voice just makes me incredibly interested in anything he says.
No idea if he gives any good advice on general things though. His voice alone would convince me he's right |

He is erudite, witty, intelligent and well read. But his desire to believe narratives that are created, and without question, seems to indicate he lacks wisdom.
Confuscius is my go to wise one.
And the Wise Woman from Blackadder. |

I don't think this is true. When faced with quantum entanglement he didn't believe it could be possible because "I don't think God would play dice with the universe" |

living or post living" Define wisdom for me , please as it means different things to different people.
To me wisdom, while acknowledging the emotions, is about taking that emotion out of an equation and allowing space to reflect before reaching a conclusion. This ability can be observed even in children as young as 4. |

I did qualify it with "appears to be" and "in your opinion",as indeed it means different things to different people...
There are still patients even today ,of the UK's biggest serial killer
Dr. Harold Shipman...
who swear he was brilliant and wise ..indeed he did actually "look" wise !!. |

There is no truly objective classification of what exactly "wise" means. Unlike the IQ tests, we would struggle to measure "wisdom" and therefore, the assigning of the word "wise" to a person is subjective and arbitrary. |

IQ tests are not all they're cracked up to be either. I work with a member of MENSA (and not afraid to remind you) and I would NOT describe them as intelligent or wise or frankly anything similar. They have some academic prowess in a very narrow field and are otherwise incredibly ignorant. |
