So, I sent a text to a tradesman this evening telling him I'd like him to go ahead with some work he quoted me on.
He messaged me back saying he would order some stuff in and hopefully he can start next week. And he put a kiss at the end of the message. Then I asked a question about the work and he replied with the answer. And another kiss.
His quote was cheaper than the others. And now I think I've got myself into a bit of a pickle. What do you think? Is this a situation?! |

I mean maybe he really likes putting x at the end of the text with girls?
Did he start this?
Also, I recently did have the mover make a move on me after he moved all my things into my new home.
It all started very innocent with him asking me out for coffee.
And he eventually got a bit too obsessive for my likings I just didn’t know how to handle the situation.. so I had to abort it ..
All I’m gonna say, thread carefully |

As a tradesman I've done this by complete accident and felt terrible and embarrassed and didn't do it again even though I received a kiss back. If he's done it twice then probably not a mistake, he might be a bit cheeky trying his luck maybe |

"Little alarm bells would be ringing.
Yeh, I don't know what to do now. How do I cancel after telling him to go ahead? "
Have someone with you when he comes to do the work. |

"You're overthinking it
You see a x on the end of all sorts of things these days
Most of my female customers sign off their emails with a x "
But before he came to my house and we were organising for him to come and measure and quote, he didn't put kisses. But now he's met me, he's started to put kisses. I'm thinking it's weird. |

You really shouldn't have told him you'd prefer him to use the tradesmen's entrance.
You've only got yourself to blame. |

Its inappropriate, and if you are uncomfortable with it then you can say so.
Its unprofessional and overly familiar, I wouldn’t sign off with an x when dealing with anyone especially a client. |

Now you've met he probably feels more comfortable around you and is trying to demonstrate a friendly approach to his messages
It doesn't mean he fancies you or will make a move as soon as he's in your house
I doubt he lowered his prices to get in your knickers, it is probably what he charges everyone
If an x on a message makes you uncomfortable, cancel him and go elsewhere |

It would ring alarm bells with me especially if it's a new thing he is doing since he met you. I would either ask to him to stop doing it as you find it uncomfortable and not appropriate or I'd go elsewhere even if I had to pay more.

My experience that women put way too much stock and thought into the X.
So much so I never add them anymore because if I added one before and then forget the next time it's all out world war 3!!!
Best to play safe and never add them.
Some guys do it automatically out of habit. He could just be friendly and thought you were nice. Might not mean he wants to jump your bones.
I'd say you're overthinking it.

"I put kisses at the end of texts to my stop smoking clinic lady, I think you're looking into it way too much x
Dirty bird…. "
I've only spoken to her on the phone but she sounds nice, I might ask her out when she phones tomorrow |

It’s not professional and not the way to respond to a client but seeing as everything is done by a form of txt nowadays it probably seems natural to him.
If he was quoting you face to face, he wouldn’t say it’ll be £200, I’ll order some bits, then move in to kiss you!

I think you're over thinking it by a mile!!
Carry a bottle of perfume around the house while he's there or maybe your keys between your fingers just incase? |

UPDATE: the tradesman has texted me to say he's lost the details from the job and can he pop over. No kisses this time but he's started calling me the shortened version of my name which I find a bit over familiar.
How can he lose the details? Is he coming back to try it on?! |

I’d just get another person in to do the work. Someone a bit more organised and doesn’t need to ‘pop over’ to refresh themselves on details of a job.

Dodgy and unorganised if lost them, just say you've changed your mind about having him do the job |

"Definitely have someone else there, a male if possible, there if you can.
Though he might just be young and stupid?"
He's actually quite a bit older than me |
