The dangerous ingredient has been traced to something called buttermilk at a Belgian factory. I have heard of buttermilk chicken. How dangerous is this stuff...

Not overly, it's clearly been processed in unsafe conditions. Buttermilk is fluid that is left after butter has been made from milk.

I think it is just one particular factory in Belgium which has salmonella, not every buttermilk processor

This buttermilk sounds like a waste product that they put in chocolate to get rid of it. I was told there was a glass and a half of milk in every bar but it sounds like they use something called buttermilk..

Rip off Britain once again and if it is a waste product then how long has it being hanging around

I use buttermilk when making peanut butter truffles. Delicious.

I’ll keep you updated on whether the excess fat, sugar or the salmonella kills me first.

local, but not too local

Must be gutting for a chocolate egg manufacturer to get hit with salmonella right before Easter.

I do hope you’re joking.

Buttermilk is a sought-after product.

Tom, buttermilk is whats left of the milk once you have made butter from it. Essentially it is milk. But different.

Well you could argue that butter is what's left after you have made buttermilk out of it ..

Doesn't this just contradict your previous statement that buttermilk is just a byproduct?
