"Captain Birdseye, thick sliced white buttered bread, salt and vinegar, ketchup.
This but if you want to go even better make it a tripple decker with potato croquettes and mushy peas"
Sort of like an old fashioned Scooby Snack |

I don't have them often but that's exactly what I do. I do like the coating nice and crispy though. |

"There’s a brand that do some posh ones. I like them in a good quality baguette or brioche bun with a little Spinach, a thin slice of cheese and a dollop of tartare sauce "
I like the sound of posh.
I've not been a fan of basic fish fingers, or battered ones.

I'm not sure about the salad cream as it's very vinegary. I've gone off it over the years, even though I love vinegar. |

Asda's- they do 30 in a pack & Omega3. Obviously, you are not going to cram all 30 in a butty or are you? However, a novel idea.....
You could have bought shredded lettuce, small sweet tomatoes. The sauce on top would be salad cream with agave liquid sugar mixed in to give you that sweet/sour kick.
An off the wall sauce could be the "Maille" Tartare sauce. Tomato sauce on top.
Bread wise - Hovis white (thick)? A cob/bap for a burger feel? But you could try soda bread; ciabatta; French stick....
Bollocks, I've got to go & get some food now - feeling hungry. |

I love a cheese and onion walkers crisp sandwich.
I wonder if they would go well with the fish fingers. |

Love a fish finger sandwich. Real butter, mayo and ketchup combination, floury, very soft roll. Decent quality fish fingers.
If I'm feeling a bit wanky, freshly baked ciabatta, homemade tartare sauce, fish fingers, finely sliced lettuce, diced gherkins. And sweet potato fries. |

"My parents have fish finger sandwiches for Christmas Dinner every year.
Pescetarians?"
No. My mum just got annoyed that my dad would go to the pub on Christmas day lunch then fall asleep so the dinner was wasted. She said she wasn't cooking for hours again.. so fish finger sandwiches it is. My dad even made them last year! |

Easy! Treat yourself to the massive fish fingers from the Waitrose counter. Fry in fat (not oil) until golden and crispy and bung in a wrap with tatare sauce and a selection of green things. |

Prawn do have testicles. I find through scientific journals via google.
Do you think they are crunchy? |

Ok there is a family of fish called handfish which have unique pectoral fins which they use to walk across the sea bed. Looks like fingers too, how about that.
You think they are also crunchy??
See Red handfish and Spotted handfish for example. |

My nearest Waitrose is probably a tube journey, so they better be worth it. Oh, I can't have fried food |

Buy some Cod loin, bread them yourself, stick in between slabs of fresh tiger bread and slather with garlic mayo and chick in some iceberg lettuce or cucumber. Pickles if you’re feeling filthy. Jalapeños if you’re hot |

Yes I don’t see why not, though the breadcrumb won’t “cook” as well. Maybe shallow fry? |

There’s a certain bar in Manchester that serves this on their menu (or at least did). The name is quite apt’ for here. Fab Cafe *true story. Those that will know, will know.
4 fingers with ketchup on white. But I’ve not had on of those for years. |

I prefer the chunky fish fingers, fresh rather than frozen. Depending on time of year, thick tiger bread and ketchup, now it’s spring going into summer it’s in a wrap, with ice cold lettuce and sweet chilli sauce |

Cheap fish fingers will do, just don't over cook. White bread, not to thick and best anchor butter. Could put a wee spread if tartar sauce on too. Delicious x |

"It's a fish finger sandwich.
Buy fish fingers.
White bread ffs.
And butter.
Why over complicate the simple things in life."
If the fingers and bread are not right it will ruin the experience for me. There's so many different makes and types of white bread, and different quality fish fingers.

Yes, you're correct. You're asking for disappointment if you just grab any old fish fingers and bread.
I love birdseye fish fingers, a soft white bloomer that's fresh with crusty edges and then some tartar sauce. |

Best one always made wth freshly made crispy chunky fish fingers, lashes of course tartare sauce and some crispy lettuce in your favourite bread. I usually eat brown bread but for this would have either a baguette, a crispy toasted ciabatta or simply just a couple of thick slices of freshly baked white bread |

Classic would be breaded jenga block style fingers on soft, buttered white sliced with a squirt of ketchup (maybe an auxiliary lighter squirt of mayo or salad cream for zing).
Fancy would be some of the tempura battered ones in an olive ciabbata (tesco do both well) with tartare.
Surprised at the amount suggesting cheese. |

i a fish finger sarnie.
now there is method to my madness.. but you have to make TWO separate ones.
yes, two.
Thick white bread.
Butter.
Fish fingers (haddock or cod / breaded or battered.. Either are lush)
LOADS of salt and pepper and vinegar.
Then on one sandwich.. Salad cream.
On the other.. Tartare sauce.
Replace tops of sandwiches.
Cut diagonally so you have two big triangles.
And Bob's your Uncle's friends left hands cousin's once removed's dog.
i'm hungry now! Px |

Two slices of bread Warburtons toastie is my preferred choice very thick layer of butter slighty salted on both slices with ketchup and maybe some mayo
Keep the fish finger as cod or haddock stay away from "fish fingers" minced fish
If you can have battered not breaded fish fingers ....just trying to keep it classy .. |
