I adore my naughty dog. I do respect people who are frightened or don’t have much experience with dogs. Same as if I had a pet tarantula, I wouldn’t force it on someone who wasn’t comfortable.

As for people that Bernard takes a dislike to, well that’s different. He’s a much better judge of character than I am!

As someone that is not comfortable , not confident , doesn’t like dogs laying on peoples bed and sofa and scared of dogs. I know and accept that plenty will not like me as apparently we are a nation of dogs lovers which is fair enough. That said I would not want to see a dog been mistreated by uncaring owners which unfortunately does happen.

Don't blame the dogs. Blame the owners.

Untrained dogs are dangerous.

Leaving young kids, toddlers and babies alone with dogs is just as dangerous.

Why do dogs sometimes bite delivery personnel?

a) Because the personnel are suspect?

b) The owners are bad?

c) Dogs are territorial and aggressive to strangers?

Hmmm tricky…

Are we talking dogs left loose?

If so it'll often be a case that a stranger is entering their territory. Some dogs are trained to be vocal in those circumstances (ours is, although she's not left loose ever) to deter threats to occupants and burglars.

Dogs can identify people they know (family, friends and regular visitors - ours knows one of our regular couriers) and will react differently to strangers.

Of course some dogs don't give a shit and will lick a burglar/axe murderer to death of course, or become best friends just because a complete stranger throws them a treat.

Dogs do occasionally kill children, and more, so point made.

It always surprises me why people don't see that it's the responsibility of the owners to ensure both their dogs and others around are safe. I wouldn't dream of going to cuddle one unless I had explicit permission from the owner and vice versa. As for fogs being a nuisance, it's all down to training. Second bark and mine would be straight back inside it. It soon stopped any barking. With some dogs that's easy with others it takes patience. Don't commit unless you are prepared to do the responsible thing. It's like kids. Would responsible parents let them run amock and cause nuisance and distress to other people? No, but many do. So yes, there are all those instances that dogs misbehave or even sadly cause serious harm but look closer and its obvious who is to blame. My opinion of course and as I declared already I love dogs. They take me to my happy place.

If someone tells me they don’t like dogs or cats for that matter...or basically anything furry I automatically am a bit wary of them.

Different if someone is frightened though. There could be a genuine reason.

And as much as I adore dogs, I would never trust one alone with a small child.

"I dislike most dogs. My issue is with the owners and most of them thinking their dogs licking hands and faces is okay. I don't want dog saliva mixed with balls on my face it’s the best moisturiser on the market better than L’Oréal vita lift x

I just don't think i can get past the smell that comes with it. The very few well trained dogs that won't get all up in my business i absolutely adore. it’s down to the dogs diet a well balanced dog doesn’t smell bad

Dogs smell like dog rodents smell like rodent all animals have a smell, not necessarily a bad one. "

my pair smell of JPG le belle x

"If someone tells me they don’t like or are afraid of k 9 that’s a huge red flag for me, dogs are a reflection of there owners, like me you have to like my dogs too.

I love well behaved dogs but when there owners let them jump all over you I’m not so keen that’s a reflection on the owner "

I'm not keen on dogs and I really don't like people who insist I should like their dog or let it near me.

I’m wary of other people’s dogs. I wouldn’t be too pleased if one came bounding at me and jumped up.

I'm very much a dog person. My dogs have always been a part of my family. I'm the type of person who wants to say hello to every dog I see. But I understand that not everyone likes them, or may be scared. So I always try to read body language to see if people are wary...not particularly hard when you have a 60kg lump of a furball, most people are cautious. If in my home I'd always put them in a different room if visitors weren't comfortable, and if out and need to pass people on a narrow path I'd always move right to the side and make them sit.

What I don't agree with is people who say that dogs shouldn't be allowed to bark or run around. Dogs need to be dogs and do dog things. Do these same people think that all children should be silent and just walk docily by their parents side every second of the day? (personally I'd love this, I don't really enjoy being around children and wish that most parents would just keep them quiet and make them behave properly).

Definitely right about responsible owners and nobody would want to silence dogs or kids for that matter I would hope. Its about appropriateness, certainly training where dogs are concerned and support and proper guidance for children. It will not always work to the same degree but some people never try. Utopia, I know

Not a dog fan, I'll ruffle their head if they come near but that's about it. I've had a dog and would never have one again.

Doesn't mean I'm soulless or an arsehole...just means I'm not a fan

Our local toddler’s park says no dogs but idiots take them in. I dislike seeing that and the poop-a-scoop hanging from trees. Sadly not uncommon.
