"She was well dressed and two handbags .. one black leather and one leapoard print .
I did get a seat but lots standing .. "
Well I suppose if she'd had a red handbag then antisocial behaviour would be acceptable... |

Yeah, so let's allow everyone ot claim the seat next to them, just in case they don't like someone sitting g next to them. Better still let's give everyone their own cubicle. That way we can at least halve the capacity of public transport. Then with less capacity more people will drive, pushing up greenhouse gasses. Global warming melts the ice caps and we all drown.
Move you bags bitch, or get off the damb train.
.
Thank you.
I feel better now.

I sometimes put them there when there's lots of space and am slow to move them. Not because I'm selfish. Because I wasn't paying attention to the people around me. When I realise people need seats I of course move them out of the way.
Please forgive me |

Not justified when it’s busy and should have moved them when asked if she hadn’t noticed it get busy,
I do it when it’s quiet after a creepy incident during lockdown when, despite lockdown and distancing guidance, in a completely empty carriage a guy went to sit next to me, which would have effectively trapped me at the window.
She may have just taken her eye off the ball and the carriage got busier. The Edinburgh to Coventry train can go from empty to busy in just a couple of stops around Preston/Wigan/Warrington. Easy to get caught out and look like a dick. |

She wouldn't need a seat once someone found the balls to chuck her out of the train window. And her stupid black bag. I will keep the other one though, I am rather partial to a bit of leopard print. |

That's why this country is in the state it is. A few more public transport infraction lynching in the last few years, and maybe, just maybe, gas prices wouldn't he so high. Did you think of that Tom, did you? No. You didn't. |

I think some people here
Are been a little judgemental with out us knowing the full facts of the case or. Bag I'm this case .as the complaintant. has stated here .
That the bag was owned by the young lady sat next to it.
The complainant. Did not have the
balls tell the young lady to move her
fucking bag as some would wish .
May I present the case for the
defence .one is not possible the
young Lady in question who from
the description. Seams to have
come home did not own said bag .
Ownership as not been
established as no other wittiness
Present. Two a lot here have jump
to the conclutions.but let me put to
you and I hope this case or bag
give us all Pause for though .
Could it be that the bag was travel
alone and rightfully held ticket for
the said seat
In this world of selfidentification.
Someone could have been
selfidentify as bag . no enquires
were made to the bag to establish
the facts .

The other week the conductor announced over the tannoy that he would be charging a full 1st class ticket to anyone with a bag on a seat in a carriage where people were standing.
You've never seen the bags put on tracks or under seats so quickly

I put my bag down next to me often on trains and buses. Always pick it up if someone gets on and there’s obviously nowhere else they can sit. But in London if someone wants to sit down they have zero problems asking me to move my stuff.

This situation does frustrate me, a simple “can I sit there please” is more then enough to move any bags.
If someone then has an issue with it, they will be sure to get dagger eyes from other people in the carriage. |

While I'm not totally disagreeing with you, as it is a solid point... To be fair, for a lot of people these days it's often less of a hassle to just not ask people to do something like this. I've witnessed some shocking outbursts from people over the slightest inconvenience to them just from a simple request. I get why people don't ask, these days it's generally better we show what kind of person we are (considerate) than have to be asked to be. |

Can see that side of it too. However, the more people pander to the whims of others by staying silent, the selfish want everything their way, nothing else matters only their world sods it won’t change.
So either use your voice and deal with it or be silent and let them get away with it, but don’t be on social media bitching about it when you yourself (not you K, but generally) haven’t bothered to utter a simple sentence.

It's quite simple, if she hasn't got enough tickets for her and her bags, then she has to move them.
It's not only women who do this. I caught one of the last trains out of London Bridge on Christmas Eve a few years ago, standing room only. A bloke had a suitcase on the seat next to his, so I asked him if he had a ticket for it. He eventually admitted that he didn't, so I put it in the luggage rack for him (by the doors) and suggested he move to the now empty seat so a lady's young child could sit there, which he did, reluctantly (to a round of applause).
Got better further down the line, when a Revenue Officer did him for not having a ticket anyway!! |

I got on a train with a bloke friend a few weeks ago.
There were two seats , one with a bag on , He picked up the bag , shoved it toward a lad and said ....... This yours? and we sat down.
He said to me ......... I've always wanted to do that.
I thought ..... You only did it cos it was a young lad. If it'd been a big bloke I think it'd have been a different story.
He should have asked first.

Anyone thinking that taking a bag on board gives them extra sea space should consider standing with them. Reasonable people will have removed their bags from seats, long before the carriage is near to full. |

I'm increasingly frequenty having to use a stick to get about these days.
The amount of selfish twats who plonk themselves down in the seats earmarked for people with mobility challenges, and compound their twattery by putting their bags on the other seat is astonishing.
A polite "Excuse me, would you mind" has never failed me yet.

Same here. Only once has someone refused to give up the priority seat. What I will say is sometimes we have asked for the priority seat when the one next to it has been empty, Sometimes we've had baffled looks as if to say why don't you just sit in that one. For people who don't understand why the reason being the priority seat is the closest and it means you don't have to climb over people's feet to get in-and-out and because the priority seat is almost always next to a pole it makes it easier to get in-and-out of the seat. |

I don’t see why wheelchair users can’t be just towed on behind the train instead of taking up all that space in a carriage. |

Oh, I'd be well up for that, especially when I sort out my new wheelchair. It has suspension |

"I'm increasingly frequenty having to use a stick to get about these days.

I did have one person ask why I felt entitled to sit there.

Prams in the wheelchair area too.....
I've seen screaming matches about the prams
It's a wheelchair space, numbnuts, move. Don't scream persecution."
I was on a train about 6 months ago when a family got one and there were 3 buggies. At the next stop a wheelchair tries to get on.
The person assisting the wheelchair user told the family they needed to move buggies.
The father started to take one of the children out of the Buggy A woman who I assume was the grandmother started screaming at the member of staff saying they have as much of a legal right to be there. When the member of staff said actually that's not true and they had 2 options they could either remove the buggies or be removed from the train. I could see the people who I assumed were the parents of the children looking embarrassed so I offered to help The grandmother wasn't having any of it. She said she would lay down in the space if necessary. By this point several other staff had boarded the track to try and reason with the woman. It was only when one of the staff radio through for the transport police that the 2 parents said they had enough and were getting off the train. So with the help of the staff they were all taken off the train but the grandmother absolutely refused. We were delayed by 45 minutes as we had to wait for the British transport police. Honestly the entitlement of some people is unbelievable! |

That's horrendous!
While it's not the same my trains have space fir bikes (not during rush hour obviously because complementing different forms of sustainable transport is a whole different topic), I always try and use this bit but people often sit in those seats, there's 10 carriages and somehow the people thst always take those seats never want to move but inevitably are the ones thst moan at the cyclist in the doorway because there's no space for them in the designated area! |

Why would I? it's not something to watch and enjoy when someone who is simply trying to live their life and use a space designated for them is humiliated in this way. |

"I always asked if they have paid for two seats. I was on one train when a guy was sat at a table with his bags in the other 3seats"
It totally irritates me that people put bags on seats but particularly on trains there isn't really anywhere to put luggage anymore. We did see someone a few weeks back and used the wheelchair area to put their bags and oh my goodness he must have had about 6 suitcases. I think if you know you are travelling with a lot of luggage you should pay for extra seats but either way it shouldn't go in the wheelchair area. |

Absolutely.
We're in agreement that the solution is less psychopaths, I think. Or more people willing to stand up to them. (I do put my bag on the seat sometimes, but I move it long before the carriage or bus fills up, or as soon as I'm asked) |

I think ultimately the majority of people do move their belongings when asked to without complaint.
I think more often than not it's not people deliberately being a dick, it's just people that don't think particularly in relation to priority seating and wheelchair spaces. |

Yes. But I think there's fear of confronting the people who will be or might be dicks. And blaming confrontation rather than wrongdoing. (So the wheelchair user caused confrontation and is bad rather than - psycho selfish arsehole pitched a fit for not getting what they want) |

People seem incapable of collapsing prams when using public transport, or at least buses. Mind you, the chelsea tractor versions of prams nowadays would probably take up just as much space when folded. |
