From the land of haribos.

Who else is surprised over this increase? I am, especially how it was done over a night and not for a long time, why do you think that it might be that? I think that one of the reasons could be the war.

We are at war, all be it economic and trade on the home front. The cost of war has always well be paid by the population. For us here financially and lifestyle adjustments. I fear for much of the developing world more starvation. We are all paying the price of miscalculations in our veiw of Putin and failing to show strength earlier on. Fires not extinguished tent to bigger burn.

On the positive side wars (out of necessity) bread very creative solutions. I suspect given time we will adjust and find new resources to soften the blow (possibly to the long term detriment of Russia). It definitely seems to be forcing the hand when it comes to reducing energy consumption and greener energy production.

No not surprised at all the cost of living has gone up in every country due to the world wide increases in gas, oil and electricity which effects the prices of everything. The war in Ukraine is just another factor

So the West boycott Russian oil and gas

Then India and China buy up this oil on the cheap.

What's next in this masterful strategy?

We could always knit daisy chains, pass a pipe around or do some finger painting??

As the West (Europeans) trade 2bn daily with Russia and China is around 300m, they are going to have to buy some to equalise any deficit.

Biden cancelling Russia's ability to pay their National debt in US held reserves means a further squeeze as Russia will have to cough it up from their coffers or default.

I suppose we could buy Russian gas and have it easy too.
