Oh, I'll miss that this year, having moved away to take up my job down south.
Last year, the little darlings knocked on my door, asking for "money for the guy!" I asked, "where's the guy?" to which they pointed to a distant "bundle of rags" lying on the pavement. They refused to bring it down the street, so they got nowt!
The local kids will be knocking at my door for ages this year; there's no-one in! Hee! Hee! Hee! |

i think we have become to weary nowadays at kids doing this but lets face it how many of us when we was younger did it and also lets face it at least they have been creative rather than sat on the xbox or playstation |

No I don't give.
Why do you give other peoples kids money for putting a football inside a jumper?
Ask them who Guy Fawkes was. They won't know.
They do know that if they beg you will give them money.
Would you give money to a kid who came up to you and said they wanted an X Box ? or to buy their mum an Xmas Gift ? Or to go to the footy match ?
Why do you give ?

At this time of year, if it isn't "Penny for the Guy!", then it's that awful American slang "Trick or Treat", or pathetic Carol Singers, who mumble one line, out of tune, from Band Aid's "Do they know it's Xmas?" and wouldn't know a true carol if it rose up and hit them!!!
All they got from me was a shower of hot boiling oil poured from the cauldron on the roof of my house! |

"yeah there is that fact but come on guys if they at least make an effort and the guy looks half decent then gud on em i say"
If a gypsy traveller came up to you with a doll she'd taken weeks to craft and asked you to give her money for her efforts so she could buy herself some entertaining explosives.... would you do it ?

"If they has genuinely put effort in yes"
Same as me. My kids are still working on their guy. And my lad loves it because last year they did a huge school project on the subject.

When we where kids, we never had halloween, it was always penny for the guy. We where the only kids in our part of the neighbour hood, so we used to take it round and gets lots of money.
Then there was a bit of wilderness where we had a bonfire and all the neighbours used to come and mum made sausage rolls and baked potatoas. That was up until we wherer about ten and moved.
Im afraid i wouldnt give them any money for the guy now, although if i saw a good one id stop comment but explain. Id sooner give them tickets to the major display than for fireworks |

Had to laugh, last year i had these three lads all about 12/13 knock on the door they had got santa hats on, looking really embarressed and trying to sing a carol between laughing. So i said if you can sing a whole one without laughing i will give you something.
I gave them £3, i thought it was harmless they looked nice lads and where just earning a few bob for christmas |

Halloween is everything to do with Britain and British tradition...
It's Trick or Treat that is American.
Here we celebrate All Souls Night, Mischief Night and Halloween.
We do duck apple , make treacle toffee and gingerbread.
We don't go begging. |
