"Heating oil?
Yes, fuel for an oil fired heating system. Tis common in the rural parts of this nation. My Grandad's house is on oil. It was on coal before that (within the last 15yrs!) "

I have no streetlights, no gas supply, no mains drains, no cable TV. I do have a tank of heating oil, electric and a septic tank. |

Do you lock the oil up? I saw a news report on the telly that heating oil theft is on the increase!
I didn’t even know it was a thing, but the lady they interviewed had half a tank of oil stolen!

Depending how desperate you are - If you have the means go to a hardware store and buy a couple of jerry cans then go to the oil depot and ask them to fill them up. I’ve done this years ago when ice and snow prevented deliveries. |

My sister got into a similar siuation, eventually managed to get 1800 litres deliverd at a cost of £2200 she then had to pay a heating engineer £300 toget the airlocks out of both the Boiler and the Aga.
The pitfalls of rural living. |

Your sister was well and truly ripped off there. We have never paid anything like that price. |

Was averaging around £1.40/l in early march round here. Still just over £1 now so not that unbelievable.
I know plenty who've paid similar.

Blimey I’ve ordered enough to fill my tank and it’s double what I paid 6 months ago
I’ve run out once before but managed to sort the airlock issue out myself with the help of an engineer on the phone. |

Crikey, think we would have to manage without if we were paying that price. It's unreal isn't it. |
