Would you say rougher the area nicer the chippy

Disagree. I grew up on a rough estate and the chip shop closes was OK and the other was very good. But I'm a massive eater of chips and I have been and lived all over the country. Some rough areas, some well to do areas. I've had bad, mediocre and fantastic chips. And I haven't found any correlation between how nice an area is (or rough) and the chips. Just wherever you go some chip shops are fantastic, some aren't and occasionally some are terrible (although these tend to be the ones where fish & chips isn't their main product) regardless of the area. |

Alderley Edge is a few miles away from where I live and that has a really nice chippy. I mention that place as a lot of Footballers live in the area.
I was born and spent most of my youth living on a council estate, so I’ve had a few chips in my life. My observation follow.
Decent area decent chips but can be a bit more expensive.
Rough area and the chips are generally good (plenty of practice getting them right) but the extras are really good. Battered sausages, pies, mushy peas etc…
Chinese give you loads of chips and the one near me, their salt and pepper chips are a meal on there own.
Pub chips are good in Whetherspoons, but you’re taking a risk at any others (check those ratings on the internet) either really good or mediocre, no chips should be closer to white than golden brown.
As I say I’m no expert |
