A musical instrument.
At school I played percussion. Loved a triangle or tambourine. Also played the trombone.
Now having lessons and learning the cello.
Any budding musicians out there ? |

Yeah, I’ve played guitar for about 20 years, I can play bass and dabble in drums and Ukulele. I’ve also been doing vocals in bands for about 15 years too |

"Tone deaf unfortunately "
My dad is great with music. When I was a kid I always wanted to play some instrument like piano. But was down by mum and dad saying I am tone deaf and have no any talent or capabilities for that.
A year ago I saw a post on one of fb group selling nice electric piano for a reasonable price. It was impulsive decision I never regret.
Now I am having weekly piano lessons and lots of practice on my own. My achievement is playing full Fur Elise with reasonable tempo.
It helps to unwind and relax. |

That’s great. I’m hiring a cello until I’m ready to buy.
Have weekly lessons too. |

In all seriousness, I do play piano and I love to sing. It really makes me sad when folk have been told they are not musical or tone deaf, often in childhood. You don't have to be a professional to enjoy making music, it's a joyful and life-affirming thing for me to make music with others and something I have missed very much these past two years.

I took a real hit to the confidence when a new neighbour posted on their Facebook that I shouldn’t give up my day job. I was actually supporting a well known band from America that night and was practicing. I didn’t think I let it bother me but still dwelling on it so I guess I have

I had guitar lessons when I was at school and I wasn't too bad. I also played the recorder. I played London's Burning on it at home on repeat, it drove my mum mad |

My sister is a piano teacher, which she qualified for after retiring from her office job. She’s always been a keen pianist, and tried to teach me… I couldn’t get my head around it, as for reading sheet music
She had a massive grandfather piano and kept it at my mum & dads as they had a massive front room. |

"Nope, totally tone deaf "
Being tone deaf doesn’t stop you playing an instrument. You can still learn to play things like the guitar, drums/percussion, or brass instruments |

I played a couple of instruments for a while. But one of parents worked where they made the instruments and wouldn't get me one. Instead they got themselves one and constantly bought the bits needed to play it and showed off all the time. I stopped playing as couldn't see the point and was pissed off at them constantly showing off something I couldn't have. That parent was particularly evil to me most of the time anyway.

I play a lot of instruments but mostly violin and French horn.. practically any brass instrument.. can also play recorder ( from picalo to bass) and viola and cello to go with my violin.
Piano is passable but not great.
French horn is my main instrument though x |

I tried guitar. You need a lot of time to get any good. When brother and me lived at home he would spend literally days just learning the same guitar parts over and over again. He did become quite good after a while. |

Mrs wanted to play violin as a kid but has been traumatised for life when she was told she was tone deaf … she reminds everyone, every time she goes to karaoke.
I played trumpet at school until I was told I had to join school orchestra. Way too cool for that!
So I took up piano. Was told I needed to practice at home. Had to stop there as I couldn’t fit the piano in my satchel!
Finally passed my music CSE playing recorder because apparently the electric bass (which I was actually quite good at) was not considered to be a “musical” instrument. |
