"We can’t wait "
Know the feeling! We're hoping to get there on Thursday evening in the hope that we'll have a better chance of finding somewhere to pitch our tent rather than the original plan of Friday morning!! |

"We’ve got a little gathering started. Meeting Thursday night, 7pm in the village. At the seating area marked on the map. "
Ok now I see why another meet was queried if it's the same one.
Damn I can't do 7pm Thursday. Are there any other meets planned? |

"Well you’ll be there Thursday night then. If you can’t do 7 I’m sure we will still be hanging around later on "
I'm the organiser of the munch so not really meant to leave early :P but would be good to meet some fellow metalhead fabbers |

What time and days are both meets taking place? "

"Looks like there are a big group of us fabbers meeting in the village Thursday at a seating area at 7ish for a social. Be great to see you there"
Any chance we could get the details for this place etc please? We're coming down from Scotland and no idea where anything is yet |

I'm soooo jealous of everyone going this year. I've just had my phone remind me with the photos from my last visit (back in 2016). It's been too long. Have a blast everyone |

Havent done Download since 2009 (I think) - it seems to have become a bit "corporate" for me, but hope you all have a good time!
Bloodstock on the other hand, been a regular there every year since 2006. Love it! |

"My wife has run off with another man, any single ladies about that fancy a bit of fun later, let me know
Did she come back? "
This is the wife! She did not run off with anyone. She was chatting with people at their tent, drinking beer and enjoying the festival spirit |

I miss the old Monsters of Rock festivals at Castle Donington.
It was one day with one stage (ok they did add a second smaller one later on) and they always held it in August so it was usually warmer and, more crucially, it went dark earlier so the headline band could use the full light show for the whole of their set. It just made the headliner that bit more special.
Don't get me wrong, had some great Downloads but I'd still prefer racking up Friday afternoon , pub crawl round the village in the evening, one full day of serious rocking and then home on Sunday. Job done. |

Well I had a fantastic 5 days, sunny everyday, great bands and great company!
I didn’t manage to get to the social meet, as I was caught up with a social meet for my vanilla friends and couldn’t slip away, but I hope everyone had a great time.
What were everyone’s highlights? |

Shinedown were typically awesome, enjoyed Volbeat, The Darkness and Steel Panther were great and then enjoyed a few oddball surprise acts like Skynd, Cassyette and Skillet
Kiss and Maiden were what we expected, Kiss entertained us more |

I was torn between seeing Those damn crows and Cassyette so went with the crows, who were brilliant.
Shinedown were amazing obviously, but really enjoyed Skillet (I think I love Jen, their drummer), Frank Carter impressed me too.
Think some of the acts on the second stage were let down by the sound though. Could barely hear Tremonti’s guitar |

That would be great actually. It's a ball ache getting the time to go to a festival these days. |

Was that the female only pit for Frank Carter? I thought that was a brilliant idea |

"Anyone else catch covid? *insert crying face here*"
Fortunately not, but did see on social media that one or two have tested positive since, and one poor girl tested positive on the Thursday morning and was isolating in her tent until someone could come and collect her |

Was a brilliant weekend apart from the absolute wanker who spiked my daughters drink in the Deftones pit....she is ok and safe but only thanks to the welfare crew who took her to safety.....she had no fone or id on her because she was in the pit.... |

Those Damn Crows! They were an amazing discovery.
In contrast to almost everyone else I hated Shinedown. They were boring as hell. Why did every song have a worthy message and why did we need a passionate explanation about that message between each one?
Those Damn Crows though! |

The female only pit is a great idea I think he got it from Fugazi?? It makes me chuckle that two of the best live acts around in Britain, Frank Carter and Frank Turner are probably the least frontman/showman names you can get. I glad you all had a good time. |

Stonedead in Newark. One day, one stage, 9 bands, only 180 tickets left.
Personally, I love Steelhouse, 3 days up a mountain in Wales with (this year) Saxon, Europe, Michael Schenker, Inglorious, Graham Bonnet, These Wicked Rivers... |
