Bob convinced me to put nudes and almost nudes (drawings of me from pictures in my single profile) on my wall. He heard a podcast in which the woman said that seeing her body every day in pictures that she quite liked had been helpful for her self esteem.
So we tried it. There are now 8 drawings of me in various states of undress on my living room wall, and a couple of months on I'm actually not offended by my arse any more.
It is slightly different having a drawing to a photo... I don't know if I could actually put a nood photo of me on the wall. But that's because I still find myself offensive. If I had a nicer body I'd be more than happy to.

Yes absolutely. I'm filling my bedroom with images of the human form. I've got 2 male and femal half mannequins that I'm going to hang on my walls somehow. They're obviously standard sized but would like some plus size imagery to go with my plus size person. I've seen some cool stuff in Etsy like candles etc. |

Yeah why not, my sister has a naked one for her up and her husband up in their living room. Was a pregnancy photo shot but still.
Nobody looks at art and thinks nudity is wrong, there's gallery's and museum's full of them. |

If I was proud of the picture I don't really see why not. I think it's a very British attitude to misconstrue confidence or pride in yourself for arrogance and I think it holds many people back.

I definitely don't love my body enough to want a pic on my wall- I have a 5x4 foot mirror, so I can see enough of myself in this- I don't think I'd like it immortalised in a piece of art  |

C bought me a canvas of one of our pics…I’ve changed our profile pic to it.
You can’t see our faces, it’s mainly my back and bum with C’s legs wrapped around me.
My son seen it and said ‘that’s a nice pic of you and C hugging’ 
Do it….be proud of your body…if you are recognised you are recognised. We are proud of our bodies and pics and some of them deserve to be on display….yours too Hippy

Yes, photographic and art work. We're naturist anyway and nudity isn't really an issue in the household. Obviously something tasteful and non graphic (especially in terms of what it portrays rather than in terms of body parts) in shared spaces of the house. But something a bit more racy or sexually charged (but not necessarily graphic) in bedroom is fine. |

Yes, why not?
You could take a pic of yourself with say a DSLR or a good camera phone & put it through an art package.
You don't have to show your face....
You could take a well known pic of say Dante Rosetti's "Proserpine" and do the exact posture but as a photograph (which does have a face now I think about it, but you get my point?) "Degas" would be a perfect place to start. His women bathing are very sexy (in my opinion.)
Or take a pic of a pose black it out and put a layered image over it. Like there is on the t.v series of Bull a face within a head.)
You could go down an abstract avenue.... You are only limited by what you can come up with....
You don't have to have it for display in rooms visitors come to. You could have it in your bedroom out of the way & door closed.
I would put mine above me toilet (like John Lennon talked/joked about), or on the back of the toilet door so that guest's going to the loo got a nice surprise!!!! |

Nah. I don't see the benefit of having a nude of myself on the wall.I feel it would make me come across as a bit of a narcassist if I did honestly.
It would probably make me mad to look at it too if I age and can't keep my looks or physique as good as or better than it is now.
Good for you having the confidence to do this but, for me personally, I don't see the appeal. |

God no. It's like printing out a selfie of yourself for yourself to frame and look at. It's just not for me. If my partner wanted me to, then maybe... but I don't think so. I wouldn't do it purely for myself anyway. But there's no harm done if you do it. |

I'd definitely put an arty nude in my bedroom of myself, but would have to be no face due to the kids. I like the comments here about it being more empowering than egotistical.

Let's say HYPOTHETICALLY you would visit my place, and you would see this picture/painting/drawing on the wall of a naked man (even implied nude, where you can't even see the penis)...what would your first reaction be? Because I personally believe most women would be put off by it, and when I tell them it's me on the wall, I would most likely be perceived as vain and narcissistic. There would be a very limited nr of people who would see that simply as artistic.
But still....what would your reaction be? |
