I went once. The amount of families with kids put me off and posh kids taking mummies and daddies bank accounts for a spin.

I used to go to the reading festival every year religiously. Managed to see the Vans Warped Tour for the last year they did it at Reading. They stopped it the next year because apparently us UK skate punks were too rowdy haha.

No, not been since 2002 but a stand out moment for me, obviously driven by the very sad news about Taylor Hawkins, was back in 1998. England were drawn against Colombia in the World Cup and football hating Michael Eavis basically didn't want to know.

Eventually it was suggested the cinema field could show it but when faced with 200,000 plus trying to cram into an area made for maybe 5,000 Eavis wisely relented and showed the game on the Pyramid Stage screens with David Beckham getting the winner and it finished 2-0.

Of course the easily 250 to 300,000 strong crowd were bouncing and partying as the final whistle went but - eager to keep on schedule - seconds after that whistle blew the Foo Fighters literally exploded on to the stage and the whole place just went crazy!

One guy near us paraphrased a famous advert doing the rounds back then and quipped "If Carlsberg could do Saturday nights..."

Great atmosphere and great, great party!

.

.

PS - RIP Taylor, you certainly rocked a field in Somerset that night my friend!

1997 Brilliant music, the saving grace- dreadful weather- remains the only festival where our tents were ransacked by thieves, destroyed by the rain. Everyone seemed high on drugs (we had no halos)and self entitlement. Mud and poo everywhere.

None of us have returned, we hear that it hasn't changed much only is more available. But I always enjoy the BBC coverage. I just prefer the more rock oriented festivals Download and Bloodstock for a better atmosphere.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Surrey

I was incredibly lucky in the resale ! Can’t wait to be back there having missed out on the last SIX festivals. Before that I was there for many fantastically ‘lost’ weekends over 6/7 festivals.

Too many highlights to list here …. But let’s hope this thread runs and runs …?

A Home Among The Woodland Creatures

There's loads of great smaller festies if you miss out on Glasto though.

Bearded Theory is my top pick for this year, but there's a couple of Fuelled By Cider events, Cursus and OutCider, that look promising too
