You can only be one. Which one are you?

Please show you’re working out as we have parents evening coming up and I’d like to have some books out to display. Hope you’re all having the best Friday my loves.

Rich.

My workings out are if I am rich I am able to make my life and the life of those I love comfortable. If I get ill I will be able to afford immediate health care, if I get short of food, heat or petrol I will be able to buy it.

It's perfectly possible to be poor and happy but it's easier to be rich and happy and being rich does not prevent it

I've always thought this a bit misleading, of course money can't guarantee happiness but what it buys you is time.

What you do with that free time should make you happy, if it doesn't you're s miserable sod.

Lol

It also buys you the basics such as heat, food and shelter.

This makes me think of that saying, "it's better to cry in a limousine than on a bicycle"

The thing with me is that I either like someone or I don't and it takes a lot or something pretty key for that to change.

I'd say I'm rich in mainly platonic friendships. So would choose happiness over being rich in money.

Happy. The things that humans seek are connection, understanding, belonging. We have incredible resilience when we have those things.

Stuff, or the ability to buy stuff, doesn't bring inner peace.

I've been financially comfortable but my job was killing me. No social life and loads of stress, I'd have been dead by 40 if I stayed.

Now I'm pretty skint and just about getting by but mostly happier. A bit more cash would certainly be nice though! Why can't I have both?

Happy... I am happy but definitely not rich.

Money certainly makes life easier but doesn't necessarily make a person happy.

I'd rather be rich... It would make life a lot more comfortable. Take away the worry and anxiety and the future. I could get private healthcare and regular therapy.

Richness may vary

How rich are we talking about ? For some people richness is 6 figures in bank account meanwhile it is peanut for someone else

Happy. The only point of money is when it can facilitate you being happy. Money on its own is pointless. The lack of money can cause much unhappiness and anxiety. So if I was happy then I would have, by extension, enough money.

Happy. But if you really don't have enough money and life is a struggle you will probably be unhappy. As long as you have enough to get by without worrying, you can be relatively poor and happy at the same time

If you were rich then you would be happy right?,but in some, (not all),thats not always the case. Yes you can buy what you want, be financially protected/secure, but having money doesn't always mean you're happy

Because money leads to freedom from debt

Debt leads to freedom from obligations to jobs I dislike to pay bills

Money means freedom of time that I once had to commit to working now being committed to things I enjoy, leading to happiness

I choose happy by the way.

I have been doing things in pursuit of happiness for probably my entire life. If I could have it forever I wouldn’t need anything else.

Is it easier, preferable even, to be poor and happy than rich and happy? Can you still value and find pleasure in friends, family and the simple pleasures if you're rich? Can you be rich in financial and emotional terms?
