Do you ever get messages from random people and they suddenly expect you to take the lead when they started the conversation?
If you start a conversation, you need to have a reason why you started it. Am I right or wrong? |

Yes.
Bullet point messages. No friendly tone and when you're less than enthused in your response, you're not the chatty one.
I read all messages unless within 4 words there's an undertone of slutsville fodder.
I check profiles too.
Usually the lack of effort is often attached to
Been here before, back again
Or
Will fill later.
It's such a dreamy situation |

No, never from Radom people , they have more important things to be doing tbh. l only start a conversation with someone that has an interest in same , talking for the sake of talking will play itself out , complete waste of eachothers time and energy. |

It's why I always say I won't chase anyone on here. If they want to chat they have to make an effort.
I call it fabtag when they either send a one word introductory message or a smoke blowing one with the latter hoping for a similar response.
It's funny now when someone says they love my pics or profile and ask where I've been hiding because they had never seen me before.
Eh I haven't moved since you sent me exactly the same message 3 or 4 months ago and a few months before that again! |

We get messages, we'll reply then get a 1 word answer, that's the end of that conversation.
I never understand when people initiate conversation why the then don't bother after 1 reply.

Ladies must get lots of messages & miss lots of messages. But if you are chatting to someone who lives local I would keep in contact even if it goes nowhere |

It takes two to have a conversation or so the voices in my head tell me.
But surely effort should be put in from both sides if both sides are interested? |

"If a guy doesn’t ask you questions, it’s kinda hard to keep the chat flowing.

Not at all. It’s more about showing an interest in someone, and keeping the conversation going. Otherwise it can fall a bit flat. |

^^^ exactly that ... if one party is asking all the questions the conversation is just one sided so it's going to fail... |

As most people are not compatible with most other people, this will mean that most chats started will result in 1 or both sides realising that it's a poor match. In abilities to have a good chat will be part of that.
Make realistic expectations and take it in your stride. Focus on the people who match well. |

I agree. It’s the same with online dating, you need to have an interest in each other, and ask questions, otherwise it doesn’t flow |

I just talk to people because I enjoy talking to people.
95% of my chats die because I am just having a conversation and not trying to get anything more out of it.
I have no problem with that and I have no expectations when a new conversation starts. |

Maybe your response didn't give them anything to chat about?
If they're not engaging in a conversation I'd assume they're not interested/ don't want to chat. |
