"The American slipper limpet, Crepidula fornicata, lives up to its Latin name.

Slipper limpets are fascinating. The first time I saw some on the sea bed (off the coast of Dorset), I thought it was a single animal, but it's actually a pile of different animals. The ones on the bottom are female and the one on top is male. As a new male joins the top of the pile, the ones below it turn into females, so they are sequential hermaphrodites.
The other funny thing about them is how when you get very close to them, they all hunker down together (closing the gaps in between their shells), so it looks like you've triggered a spring loaded trap. |

"Ships into Venice in the middle ages had to dock on a small island off of it and stay there for 40 days, incase anyone onboard was carrying disease.
The Italian word for 40 is quaranta and that's how we get the word quarantine
Good job it wasn't 40 days for Covid isolation
I know what a cake should have in it. Certainly not carrots and courgettes x"
So you're opting for the Chocolate & Beetroot fudge cake then |

AND ... the original Guinness was a new type of English beer, invented in London in 1722 by a brewer named Ralph Harwood. |

"It took 40 attempts to get the formula for WD-40 right."
it was an accident, wd stands for weopens development, they were trying to make a new rocket fuel, and it didnt really work, but then they realised it was a good water repelant, btw its not a good lubricant at all, infact its the oposite, markating made people think it was |

Hedgehogs have longish legs and can move quite fast, they 'chuff' when mating and the female flattens her spikes so she can mate, Baby Hedgehogs are born with no spikes. They are also an endangered species due to loss of habitat...Leaving a cd sized hole in your fence allows them to roam looking for food and mates. |

"Lobsters turn red when they are cooked, because red is the only pigment in their shell that is resistant to heat "
They turn red because the red pigment (astaxanthin) has the ability to absorb blue light, it is stored in a membrane within their shells. The pigment is stored inside a membrane hidden in their shell so tightly it cannot flow, the pigment responds strongly to heat, so when the lobster (or crab) is plonked into hot water, the body chemistry changes and the pigment is allowed to flow freely turning the crustaceans a red colour
Lobsters are bugs of the sea world |

If you earned $180,000 a day from when Jesus was born to the present day, you would still not be as rich as Amazon's Jeff Bezos.
If you saved $10,000 a day since the pyramids were built in 2540 B.C. you would still only have one fifth of Jeff Bezos’ net worth |
