From a money and endorsement view good for her,but when it comes to tennis I personally feel that the British media pur too much pressure and spotlight on her after winning just one grandslam. She felt the need to change her coach which was a very bad decision and nothing has gone right for her since the US OPEN title. But she must get as much money as she possibly can from these endorsements coz at the moment her game is going downhill.

I think that given the unpredictable nature of the womens game where a player can win a major, then disappear into the rankings abyss, she’s right to cash in on the achievement for as long as possible. I don’t know the exact number but there are quite a few, recent, one time Slam winners on the WTA. |

I think the original question was linked to her potentially being a one hit wonder.
Which does seem like a business risk. But they will have looked at her very carefully before they signed her on.
I see it as an endorsement of her as both a sportswoman and a role model to younger kids.
She is also easy to photograph, quite eloquent and is also cute and innocent as well. Her looks and name are also not traditionally English or Waspy. So she appeals across social and geographical strata.
She, on the other hand, signed a bit of paper and got loads of money and fast cars for free.

She's the first British woman to win a grand slam singles title since 1977. At 18. In her second grand slam tournament. Not just a pretty face and taking it down to just her looks is kinda insulting to her. |

Anyone saying that this won't make people buy Porches doesn't understand how advertising and product placement works.
Very few people go out and buy stuff just because it has celebrity endorsement. However, luxury products require a complex mental game to make people spend on them. No one needs a Porche, or any other sports car - or indeed a £30k watch or £800 shoes. People buy these things because they believe they will have status from them and our assessment of the status value of an object is far more subtle that "superstar X has one therefore I must"

I am guessing for as good as she is, the sponsorship deal isn’t really targeted at the uk or European markets, the target is likely to be the china market… young, social media savvy, rising star with Chinese heritage and can speak fluent mandarin, and the womens tennis tour hold 10 events in china every year! |

Exactly this, it's branding. It's how luxury companies (or any for that matter) make you think about their company. There's a reason every company in the world spends an inordinate amount of money on creating their brand. And the fact that you're even talking about it shows its working |

"Can't blame her for cashing-in on her fame - it looks increasingly like it may be short lived.
It is looking more and more like she flooked that massive win "
The history books won’t say how it was won though. It simply say that she won the 2021 US Open.
She still had to beat the 7 players she played against. All ranked higher than her.
So I don’t get this ‘she fluked it’ nonsense. |

Spot on. Some keyboard warriors need to take a look in the mirror at what they had achieved by age 18.
Beating the queen of tennis with 23 grand slams to her name is no mean feet.
We love to hate successful people in this country. Its pathetic and sad. |

A player can have a lucky result in a game or match or whatever the term is. While it is statistically unlikely for this to happen 7 times on a row it isn't impossible. I'm not saying this did happen just that 7 wins *could* be a fluke. Equally, it is possible that he mental and physical game hit a one in a lifetime high that she'll never be able to achieve again.
If it was a fluke, she would still need to be a really really good player to get herself into a place to take advantage of this fluke.
Nome of this explains the mindset of people who seem to want her to fail.

Let’s be clear, she’s won many tennis tournaments, including one grand slam. That’s a big deal, no matter how you phrase it. She’s got a decent future, and brands are betting on her while she is probably cheap to sponsor, in the hope that if her star grows, they get the benefit. No need to be snippy about it. Plenty of sportspeople get sponsored for all sorts of crap, cars, watches, betting shops, drinks, clothes. |
