"So, out of curiosity, how would people define:
1. Destiny
2. Fate"
Both have to do with a predetermined future.
Fate is predetermined by external factors, a greater being for want of a better word, whereas your destiny depends on the choices you make in life. |

^this^ pretty much sums it up for me too! |

"Fate is out of your control and it is what it is and meant to be regardless.
Destiny is chooses you make in life. "
Yep ^ Destiny is where you can be if you make right choices
Fate is what happens in spite of your choices.

"You should try L’estranger by Camus. "
I’ve read the Outsider by Camus when I was about 16. Recently read Siddhartha by Herman Hess (recommended by a fab friend). Also had strands of this topic within it. Maybe we should start a fab book club- zoom meeting every Sunday evening? |

I don't believe either exists. Fate is supposedly the predestined events decided by some sort of supernatural power and destiny is supposedly actions that WILL necessarily happen in the future.
Apart from death (which is destined for us all at some point), I don't believe any event in our lifetimes WILL happen. Things can happen or be changed to alter what will happen in the future. |

Destiny = what actually happens you .
Fate = what you do to end up where you end up or what happens to you |

That’s the problem with Engineers and Scientists. They are too stuck in the ‘rational brain’. Einstein famously said, “if I had used my rational brain, I would never have discovered the theory of relativity”. |

*Shrug* One day, I'll be a little pile of worm food, that's about all that's certain about the world. The rest is a combination of hard work, a bit of luck, knowing the right people and..... circumstances. |

I agree that the body is just a vehicle and is essentially worm food when we die. But we or ‘I’ is not the body. (Fellow Scientist on a quest to find out what lies beyond the rational brain). |

My brain is certainly not always rational, but unsure where the concepts of fate and destiny fit in? They sound like twin girls, do Fate and Destiny |
