Terms of endearment

Love. When someone calls me love I always think they're being condescending: "listen love".
A stokie mate once called me pidge (short for pigeon) but I misheard it as bitch and kicked off. I'd rather not be called anything I can so easily mishear as a huge insult! |

land of make believe |
It totally depends on the dynamics of the relationship.
Strangers-definitely not although living where I do I have to put up with 'love' a lot!
I also don't like 'hun' from anyone but only one friend uses this,I would ask anyone else not to call me it.
I don't like 'mate ' either even from friends.
All the others I use regularly with my closest friends.
I call my son 'Baby' I always have ,I think he loves it even though he is 30 years old.

"It depends on who is calling me it x"
This. There's some I usually hate but one of my partners calls me almost every pet name under the sun and I don't know if its the way he says it but I melt every time. |

"What names do you hate being called ? Things like hun or babe ? Thoughts and reasons welcome x"
Chick, love/luv, babe, baby, hun, honey, hunny….
However my ex Fb on here called me “baby” and I got used to it after a bit, but no one else. I have a name that was given to me. I don’t need another |

I dislike terms of endearment from anyone I'm not close to, a fab friend calls me "sweetie" which is cute, but it's probably because he has long since forgotten my name |

"Pet names and terms of endearment have their place. It’s recognising how they will land with the person you are trying to endear yourself to! "
And what names would potentially work on you ? Amazing profile by the way xxxx |

Pet names, names of endearment, don't bother me in the slightest. I accept them in the manner they are given, a term of endearment. What really fooks me off is when people insist on shortening my name, despite me nicely asking them not to. |
