Yes! You've just reminded me actually. I must've been ten ish at a family wedding, and got roped into dancing with a girl from Scotland. She must've been 18 or so at the time, called Andrea. I can remember getting a letter back from her and being so happy she'd written back, and I kept that letter safe with other stuff I prized

Yes - my first wife!
I was in the RAF and spent alot of time on various operations - way before mobile phones or internet
Some of those blueys which I think I have in my attic in Holland are scorchio material |

Yes! There was some organisation that would match kids up. I still remember filling in the form and choosing which country I wanted my pen pal to be from. I’m pretty sure I chose the Ivory Coast, just because it sounded so exotic 
I also had a French pen pal named Karine, and a Norwegian one for school exchange purposes. |
