Sad to see so much of it these days on here.

Even simple threads turn into something that they were never intended to be. Sad times x

You are right and to be fair it used to bother me a little. Now I totally ignore all those keen to cause issues or are full on with their opinions or aggressive to anyone. A little banter is fine, arguments and negative attitudes are not. Not for me anyway. I come here to distress, have a bit of banter and sometimes learn something useful as often some very knowledgeable and helpful people on here. Obviously not sure exactly what you are referring to but please don't let it bother you.

Isn’t that how conversations go in real life tho, you start on one thing and before you know it you are talking about something a million miles away from where you started. People have opinions and they express them here, we might not agree but that happens in real life too

I am not sure it is unless it gets taken over by arguments and disrespectful comments. Thete is a clear fifference between opinion, arguments and abusive comments. Give me opinions any time as I may learn something but keep the rest as I am not here for that. Each to their own I suppose.

I was just saying to someone how the forums used to be funny a lot of the time.

There were still arsey people and a few haters, but they didn't ruin every thread with their negativity (yes, I'm aware this is a negative comment).

I think people come here to vent their spleen now.

Time runs differently in the forums.

'Oh I remember when it was always fun' probably refers to 1 week a couple of months ago. Having not had a look here for months it's pretty much the same as it ever was

It never used to be like this; back in the day. Before the advent of Soshal Meedja and the anonymity of facepage, Shitter, SickTok etc when people had to be negative in person it was a far more civil world (give or take a few wars).

But we cannot live in the past. There may have been a time when people were allowed to hold differing views but now there is only right and wrong - and if they don't agree with you; they are WRONG.

If I was to guess it’s a lot to do with social change in interaction. 30 years ago we spoke in person or on a phone call. Now it’s a culture of ghosting, blocking, trolling, cat fishing, scamming to pick on a few negatives.

But years ago we wouldn’t be exposed to that and less likely to build these negative associations with social media, apps, websites etc. it’s a power for good and for bad bit all is negative and you can see some remarkable influences being used to spread good.

But like many things we remember the painful experiences and they live in us

The last two years have been doom, gloom and stress for most of us. A lot of people have changed and have suffered quite a lot. I know it's not right to take frustrations out on others but I understand a lot of negativity comes from that.

We all need to be a little compassionate and kind to each other even more so when it's clear that person is in pain. We never know what someone's going through so take a breath, step back and don't pour petrol on the fire.

Perhaps if people stopped bringing others down with negative comments on how other people chose to run there profiles there wouldn’t be so much negativity here, every other day there’s a thread about what’s acceptable to show and not show and the comments seem to come in the form of judgement - pisses me right off!

Just because you wouldn’t do something or you don’t share the same kinks/thoughts or what not doesn’t warrant a bitchy comment aimed at another poster, plenty of room for all kinds here!

Exactly. Branding it negativity because it's a differing view is the actual negativity. Also; quite often it's just stuck on any view that someone doesn't agree with. A way of silencing.

I've seen lots of posts made by various posters that are disparaging of others. You can't really ask for compassion, understanding that you have things going on in the real world and not afford that to others. Well, you can.

And yes, there were the halcyon days - be part of bringing that back. Inject some humour. Show compassion. Understand we're all different.

(This isn't targeted at anyone, you know? Just general you, general musings, generally.)

I said quite often it's stuck on differing views. Yes, there are posters who are talking explicitly about negativity. These threads tend to crop up when there's a "cause" in another thread or two.

I do think that people as a whole are more prone to negativity with everything that's gone on - the fora are a reflection of the general zeitgeist so it's not surprising. I think that given the cyclic nature of them, things will be on the up one day. Maybe.
