Reports that scientists want to drill the deepest hole in history to reach the molten magma and harness the energy .
Surely this will just end up as a man made volcano which will be impossible to cap with molten laver spewing everywhere... I think they are tampering with things they dont understand. This will not end well... |

Iceland didn't have to drill very deep to do theirs. Same principle. |

That's a ~200km deep hole, considering the deepest point drilled to is just over 12km it's a long way off.
As for gas release, a tiny hole would release such a small amount compared to all active volcanoes on earth it's not worth worrying about. |

Iceland didn't have to drill very deep to do theirs. Same principle."
I am one of the few people who have ever set foot on Iceland. I have seen it for myself. Fumes coming off the hot pools going straight up onto the atmosphere .. |
