I've noticed text talk is annoying to some

None. If someone has a smartphone it’s harder to use text talk than it is to write correctly. That means they’re doing it on purpose which makes it even more annoying. |

I totally agree with this. It's a massive turn off for me for this reason, but then I am sapiosexual |

I don’t actually think it has anything to do with a lack of intelligence. I think it’s laziness or people thinking it’s cool. I don’t mind acronyms like lol or cba (I actually use that one a lot) but anything else is too much. |

I like a good lol, don't mind some acronyms but I loathe deliberate misspelling.
Wud luv to fuck u.
U gud hun?
I've also noticed lately a lot of messages with "yano". Took me ages to figure that one out and when I did I had to put my phone down and step away to recover. |

I'm not a fan to be honest. However I try to put my prejudice aside and look past the abbreviations to the quality of what is being said rather than the format of how its delivered. That is what is important to me, the content. Also being dyslexic I feel an element of people who live in glass houses as what I write is rarely perfect. I hope people look past my poor spelling and grammar and judge the content of what I write and thus I should show what others write the same respect for the content of what they are saying. However its fair to say occasionally I still come across a text abbreviation that I haven't got the foggiest what it means. And to be fair now we have moved away from old school Nokia phones and to smart phones with predictive text there really is far less need for text speech.

I'm pretty conservative with language, so any form of text talk really blows my mind. I send full English text messages, and write real letters as emails. Its just how I've always been, though I've started writing in short snippets on here for some reason!! Not text speech, but missing out words, which is starting to annoy me as well!!!! |

I completely agree, I just don't see the point of going to that much effort to look lazy and basic. |

Exactly. It was acceptable when people had Nokia 3210s and you had to press buttons 3 times for each letter and had a character limit but there’s no excuse for it now. |

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please) |
A bad habit that I'm trying to get out of, only lol remains.
At a push I might allow myself one "lol" in a message, but my methadone is "haha"... Which is now annoying me so must also annoy the recipients. :/ |

A text's not even that long. Just how difficult or time consuming is it to type the words out? I will tolerate lol and the usual ones but when "to" is "2" etc, I draw the line and on here, they have one more chance to judge from my reply that i don't text talk. If they persist, then they're not observant enough to carry on with |

"If you are over the age of 25 just please stop using lol.
So you’re saying I have a year left?
"
Are you saying you're 24?
Then yes, 1 year left, use it wisely. |

There are so many people who are dyslexic and I would never dream of judging anyone on that and hopefully most people don't either. |

Hate text talk other than lmao or lol unless it’s being used for humour. If someone said ‘lol, wyd????’ After I’d said something crazy it’s different to them saying ‘wyd?’ As in what are you up to.
Also I’m young and I generally know that people that speak like this can often still use the English language well and do in person. |

Don’t mind lol, I think it’d look odd to put “laugh out loud” that’s about the limit for us though |

Doesn't bother me,as long as I fully understand what they are saying.
Text talk?
Poor grammar.
Bad spelling?
I'm here for adult fun,not to judge others on their use of the English language. |

My experience of those with dyslexia both on this site and away from it is that their spelling and way with words more often looks nothing like text speak so it is easy to decipher what they are saying, their wording is often done in a phonic style, ie; wot yu up to instead of wuu2. There is a marked difference and I doubt many have an issue when it comes to dyslexia. |

You are absolutely right. It should not be confused as its not the same. I have seen some comments though before on here where people had to explain themselves about their dyslexia having had some derogatory comments which was a shame. |
