Do you tuck your duvet in?

Jump to: Newest in thread

Increasingly I stay in hotels where the duvets are tucked in, under the mattress, at the bottom and sides.

Mine at home just floats over the bed. Do you tuck yours in?

I don't mind when I'm in a hotel where the duvet is tucked under the mattress at the bottom but I make sure it's loose at the sides. At home it's loose! Couldn't deal with being encased or trapped in a bed!

No,

I love the look of hotel beds but the reality is as soon as I'm in them I pull them apart as they make me feel trapped & tied in

I agree completely! It's a nasty trend, spreading like a virus.

I like freedom and especially when im staying somewhere other than my home.

Perhaps it was started by someone with a partner who hogged it, on their side of the bed

No matter how large the bed is my feet will always hang out the end…. I’ll never know how it would feel being tucked in. I guess it’ll be one of life’s mysteries for me

The whole point of a duvet is so you don't have to tuck anything in.

I don't know why hotels tuck theirs in.

In my happy place

Hotels tuck them in at bottom cos most dont have fasteners at the bottom.

So . . . . Mattress with sheet on, loose sheet (tucked in), duvet.

Apart from the tucking isn't this normal?

The duvet always migrates /slips off the sheet.. It sends me into an instant rage so i rip the sheet off the guest bed as soon as i arrive

Duvets (or doonas as I still call them) were invented to avoid sheets!

"Hotels tuck them in at bottom cos most dont have fasteners at the bottom.

From my past Hotel Management career, I can vouch for Housekeeping personnel having as little as 15-20 minutes to clean a room.

With some groups there could be more minutes.

The trend has developed within hotels to have Duvets which are tucked in at the edge which the guest views first on entering the room. The duvet covers on all, don't have popper or button closures; in most, it's Velcro tape type fastenings, and in some, the viver openings are on two sides, to speed up changeover times.

No we don't. When we are in a hotel room and the duvet is tucked in we go around and pull it out. It's far too restrictive when it's tucked in.

I think I'd need supersized duvets, if I was mad enough to want to tuck them in, like a king size for a single bed

Never tuck mine in. The winter one is

actually one size larger than the bed (king size duvet over double bed). Prefer it like that for warmth.
