Singers / Bands you get but others don't

Jump to: Newest in thread

Moving on from the thread about singers you don't get, fill this space with singers or bands that you like that aren't lauded to degree you think they should be

I will start of with any incarnation of The Housemartins / The Beautiful South or just Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott

Still at it from the 80's and still great

Aphex Twin and Autechre, yeah it’s often unlistenable in the surface, but really it’s very simple and often beautiful

"Bob Dylan. He simply can’t sing!"

You're in the wrong thread Andrew

This is about singers or bands you like that others seem to overlook

FWIW though, 100%

Chris Rea, he’s unfortunately linked with the Jeremy Clarkson type, Dad music, but his music really speaks to me.

Burt Bacharach for some elevator music, to me a genius.

Linda Lewis. I have loved her as a songwriter and singer since the 1970s. Her early album 'Lark' is my favourite, a collection of beautiful songs beautifully sung.

Sparks, probably meh to loads of people, but musical gods in Mr Shadys world. Sparks Brother film was a real thank fuck its brilliant movie for him. As a non film I get it too, but to me it's a hit and miss act.

I enjoy most music however I do love electronica/experimental.

Aphex Twin, Autechre, Square Pusher, Boards Of Canada, Biosphere, Future Sound Of London etc.

I also enjoy many styles of ethnic music. I like Bhangra (not the bollywood rubbish), Tuvan throat singing, people like Hun Hur Tu and Yat Kha.

I like a lot of stuff that other people don't get. But I'm no hipster. I just enjoy that kind of thing.

Love Seth Lakeman, his Poor Mans Heaven is probably my most played album. Real Rock Folk music but keeping a traditional feel.

I've always felt a little uncomfortable telling people I love the Hi-Infedelity album by Reo Speedwagon. Thats it out there now, I feel cleansed.
