We all have seen the disclaimers on peoples profiles threatening Sydney University with dire legal consequences if they should ever dare to use one of your photos.

Just out of interest, has anyone on here considered a SLAPP action against Sydney?

Manchester (she/her)

I think SLAPP is predominantly an American phenomenon - so you want to use an American law (which jurisdiction? it matters) in the UK to deal with an Australian institution?

... I mean it makes as much sense as any of these disclaimers, I guess.

Most disclaimers on here are meaningless legally. It's boilerplate text that has been handed down from generation to generation of swinger. The reality is that whoever wrote it in the first place made shit up and was almost certainly not legally trained. I think people write it in the hope that the text (which they don't understand the legal implications of in any event) will save their asses if some miscreant nabs their pics and shares them online. Jurisdiction is also an important issue that the disclaimer ignores. Quoting and EU legal provision (probably the wrong one for the circumstances) is going to be worth jack shit when trying to stop an Australian entity. Has anybody even come across this mythical research they supposedly conducted?!

Hmm agree with all this

Actually got sent a link to this “research” mentions absolutely no one by name and does not show any photos,Just a bland actually not that well written article,Was not a joy to read basically just says Women are hard to get on here and Women get lots of messages from guys and apparently they could not conclusively link the two.

None of those disclaimer mean anything other than the herd mentality of the poster.
