Does anyone think that trailers shown after the credits (like with Spiderman and The Batman) a good idea or completely pointless?
I don't see the point as, why show a trailer after the movie has finished? |

Post credit scenes I can understand but to have a trailer which can already be available to watch on YouTube placed after the credits makes no sense. |

By putting it at the end they are targeting the Uber fans who don't leave the moment the credits roll... It's a treat for the fans and more likely to stick in your mind than the bazillion trailers you saw at the start.
Basically it's not about how many see the advert, but who sees it and how receptive they are when they see it... Just seen a good movie and get told about the sequel, or a similar film? You are going to be putting a date in the diary. Same trailer before the film, you will have forgotten it before the opening scene finishes. |

As far as I know Marvel have only had 1 full trailer at the end of a movie, and that was Dr Strange 2 at the end of No Way Home, and that's because at the time there was/is no follow up movie.
Since Spiderman (movies) is a Sony movie property, notice Homecoming had that weak ass "patience" cap America clip. Far from Home had a very brief clip of Nick Fury in space (has future hints but nothing major - Sam Jackson was in the movie so they threw in a little twist more than anything). They were not going to have major MCU reveals in sony collab movies.
So they threw on a Dr Strange 2 (trailer 1) to the end as a "thanks" to marvel for the Dr Strange 2 character in the movie.
The whole sony and marvel/Disney deal is very complex and weird in places. |
