My thoughts?
I think that sperm banks and fertility places will know far more about it than I, and that it should very probably be left to them to sort out unless the couple are very well known and trusted.
Fraught with negative thoughts like "is the sperms healthy or does it contain something genetic that could impact the child's health?"
"Are the couple suitable to be parents or will I end up seeing them on the news in a horror situation like baby P?"

You should be donating through the correct channels is what I'd suggest. You need to have health checks done as well. It's not as easy as wank in a pot and sell it on ebay for a tenner a go!  |

It will never astound me the lengths men will go to in order to have sex.

I would recommend a documentary on BBC sounds all about this from both the donor and the recipients’ perspectives.
The recipients are often driven to use unofficial donors by costs but also by the laws around anonymity of donors

my point being, you don't know strangers so why would you give them something so precious and valuable?
Of course I was using an extreme example, however you could be bringing a child into poverty, drug abuse, neglect, anything. However, that's the whole point of going through the correct channels.

Yes, not sure how & they moved away. I feel they feel I let them down but it isn't an insignificant ask so rather than open a huge can of worms I think I did the right thing. |
