I'm an organ donor and A-ve.
Both my parents are donating their bodies upon death to medical science. There are reams and reams of paperwork and legalities to submit before you can be accepted, all of which they have passed and we are happy to allow the medics to take over their care upon death.
So proud of what they will be doing to assist in the progression of medical science. Xxxxx Suzi |

I know my blood type. I’m not allowed to give blood as I have had a blood transfusion.
I wouldn’t be allowed because of a health condition anyway, but I’ve never been allowed because of the transfusion. |

I'm O+ and have donated 30-plus times. I'm sadly too heavy to donate ATM, but hopefully I'll be able to do it again in the future.
Take whatever is usable once I'm dead - I won't need it, and if I can save someone else's life, then job done!! |

Yes and I used to give blood but have travelled to parts of the world where I could have been bitten by insects and contracted some sort of blood infection that though it does not affect me. Could affect others, so I was told to stop donating! |

No and No.
It would be nice if when hospitals etc take a blood sample for testing they could be bothered to tell us what group it is.
Perhaps they do if it is not a common one.
A few weeks back I went for a pre-op assessment. That would be an ideal time to put the group on file. |

Do you need to know?
It was only because I was pregnant I found out. Otherwise I'd quite happily go through life without knowing |

Well I know my ABO and rhesus blood groups. And I know a couple of the others. Though it's irrelevant information as if I needed blood, I'd hope I wasn't so severely ill that they wouldn't be able to crossmatch it.
And yes I do give blood and on the bone marrow transplant register also. |

After working in blood transfusion in hospitals. They are stretched as much as humanly possible as it is. One mistake in crossmatching a patient for transfusion can kill them. It's not a case of not being bothered, it more the case of do you want more nurses caring for patients or letting people know their blood group for what purpose? What would you do with that information? |

Have been disallowed from donating blood when I've tried to in the past but will do next time they hold one at work, no idea what my type is, think am are automatically signed up to donate organs unless I specifically opt out, don't see why not if they can be put to use after I've pegged it |

I'm A+. I can't donate blood with my medical condition, but signed up to the organ donor register years ago. Plus my family are aware so would have no reason to refuse a donation should they ever be asked. |

B Negative. Used to try and donate but they never did anything local and I would have to drive to another county. Shame as it’s quite rare.
If they came to my local town I would do my very best to let them have it as and when within reason. |

I’m AB- and no I’m not a donor, as I’ve had blood transfusions in the past, plus my veins are too small to withstand donating or receiving, very painful when the vein being used collapses. |

I've had a blood transfusion so I'm not allowed to donate it.
I find I have a real connection with men who are O- so if any of you have that blood type, send me a message.
I won't drain your blood and sell it on the Dark Web. I promise. |

I have always known my blood type and have worn it on dog tags for most of my life but am not allowed to donate blood because of my medical condition and the medicine that I am on. No one would want my lungs as an organ donation unfortunately! |

I can't remember my blood group. I can't donate either. Tried a couple of times and they said that my blood didn't flow fast enough to clot as they needed. I was devastated because I strongly believe in blood and organ donating. |
