A thread for the sassy over 50's

Not that I bothered much about getting rid of hair when I was younger but now I've hardly got any left now - bonus.

Just found out that prescriptions are free.

I can at last wear what the fuck I like without any consideration about what others think.

I can play 'old' when I need sympathy and 'weak' when I need some heavy shit moving.

I can resonate with the not giving a shit bit. Generally, I think my manners and upbringing do me no favours in today's cut and thrust world x

I'm embracing getting older - disgracefully, may I add!

I live on my own, have no kids, so only have myself to worry about. Stopped giving a shit what most people thought of me or trying to please everyone years ago.

It's bloody liberating! X

You've called me out on the word manly. My definition maybe isn't the same as yours.

Well, you inferred that men who wear makeup aren't manly. What do you think about women who don't wear it?

You've taken it out of context. I don't like seeing fellas covering themselves in lotions and potions. Their business if they do, but just not for me.

Make up on a lady, not fussed.

Yep, definitely care a lot less about what people think these days! Try and stay fit and trim though. Think that’s important if you’re going to put yourself out on a site like this! X

I would so love to get older. Believe me when I tell you; it's better than the alternative. And that is not meant to be a joke. When someone tells you there is no cure for something, you would give anything to get older than your prognosis.

This is the positive thread but I'm so sorry you are going through that, my sister is terminal so I have some understanding.

She now tells everybody what she genuinely thinks, dumps people from her life with impunity, doesn't suffer fools and tells me she feels liberated from being falsely polite and positive.

How old is everyone in their head?

I was 28 for many years but I've grown up a tad since I hit 60 and now I'm 36.

In the west.

I don't feel the need to fit in or conform to what is expected. I wear bright colours, a few people make comments, in a sarky, about the things I wear. I just shrug and think meh.

Exactly how I feel!. Well said Wildblonde69

I love being older and retired. Wonderful to have time and flexibility to explore my many interests and develop new ones. Great to be able to get plenty of sleep when in need. ... and plenty of time to be a wild older gent when the mood strikes!

I can wait to get mine, but if they were to drop age I'd snap it up.

And don't forget the free prescriptions.
