I'm listening to Oprah's book, what happened to you.. It is truely fascinating and it is getting my brain excited

It's touching on fulfillment and how to fill your 'reward bucket'

So I'm interested in what you do, where do you get your hit, how do you fill the void inside... Do you use external things to hit those pleasure spots, or do you rely on relationships.. Or something else..

Where do you find your reward??

Really.. Is it a quick hit that needs to be replenished often, or does it sate for a while?

Is it enough?

Travel.

Which is why I was deeply depressed during lockdowns. I get pleasure from travelling. Flying, specifically.

I also put on weight because I started eating more and more sweet treats to compensate.

Not sure I want the added complications of a "relationship"

Oh it was meaning all relationships - friends and family rather than a romantic relationship

But how do you maintain your happiness... You must be 'filling your bucket' somehow.... What do you do?

I find I'm far less motivated to do things I used to do.

I'm hoping that's just a phase.

I'd say shopping for me too, especially online. I've bought quite a lot of new sexy clothing recently, I guess it gives me a little lift

PNG x

I go to a swingers club when I can, once a month, but injured my leg, so haven't been for a while. My work colleagues took me out for my birthday last Saturday, but that's very rare.

For me (T) it's gardening. Not only is it so satisfactory to see something beautiful you have grown but there is something very primeval about about eating food you having grown! It is also a good physical workout.

For A it is donning too much lycra and riding very fast on his bike.

Both of us do not understand the others passion!

I don’t really think I have a void to fill. I’m quite happy with my life. Not saying it’s not hard, for those who know me know it is but I’m never lonely. I have things I really look forward to that would perhaps leave a void if I didn’t have them. I have people I can meet for erm other things when I want to. Great friends, great family. Not a lot of spare time for much else x

Hmmm i have an addictive personality so i have to be careful. I'm 1000% or nothing... Consequently i have a lot of fillers, some more successful than others .. Currently i listen to books, walk, gym.. All fairly solitary activities, so they don't really help combat loneliness.. which i think comes from my feeling through childhood and into adult life that I'm not enough.

I am thinking about getting a dog maybe.. Or finding a lunchtime fuckboy

I easily survive as a lone wolf, yes I've done long relationships, two of them in excess of 10+ years but I never found the need to find them the reward of life rather spiritually or sexually. I get my "hit" I suppose on a daily basis of being the best possible version of me without compromise

And coffee

Sometimes. But not always. Music more so than art. Art I always have a struggle coming up with compositions. So I spend my time practicing technique, ideas often come from that.

Bloody hell, this is taking some introspection. At the minute, everything just feels like it's going to quickly day to day for anything to feel fulfilling. I work, I go to the gym, I watch a bit of TV, I do chores on the Saturday, meal prep and gym on the Sunday. It all feels like everything I do is to get through the day, week, month for the purpose of getting to the next.

I suppose lots of stuff helps in the short term such as watching TV, eating naughty foods etc. but feel these are merely silver linings compared to genuine fulfillment

"I easily survive as a lone wolf, yes I've done long relationships, two of them in excess of 10+ years but I never found the need to find them the reward of life rather spiritually or sexually. I get my "hit" I suppose on a daily basis of being the best possible version of me without compromise

And coffee

oh yeah, coffee.. Where would we be without our caffeine hit

Oh how the deep and meaningful spilling of my emotional rift was undone with one word...and yet in Midnight's world it was the only word that mattered

Soz "

Dave!

"Bloody hell, this is taking some introspection.

I suppose lots of stuff helps in the short term such as watching TV, eating naughty foods etc. but feel these are merely silver linings compared to genuine fulfillment"

Oh sorry i was convinced I'd replied... Its quite tough isn't it, confronting yourself.. It sounds to me as though you are existing rather than thriving at the moment?

I try to do something different and interesting every month, to escape the mundane. The last couple of months have been weekends or nights away so they were expensive but they don't have to be. This month's is going on a yoga retreat day. Next month a caravan holiday with family.

I exercise a lot. I love ticking of goals and achievements. And I read a book every week.

It takes quite a lot of change to thrive... What do you think you could do differently to start slowly tipping the balance?

Gaming? It mostly just fills the space between work and work though but I think that says more about my current workload. Its hard to truly switch off these days. Rugby always used to be the preferred outlet but games these days aren't as frequent unfortunately.

Running, motorcycle, meditation and mind blowing kisses. One of the four isn’t easy to find.

Do you run solo, or with a group /club? You might find a club more sociable /fulfilling?

Awww it's no problem, thank you for reviving the thread haha. You could say that. It is because of personal circumstances as well and while I try to think it's not going to be like this in X amount later, it's increasingly difficult not to get too bigged down in the present

Yeah thats pretty much my life these days. Still finally managed to hire a new guy for my team (if he takes the offer) so I should be able to do my job a bit more instead of two peoples that I'm currently doing.

Not sure I'd be a great coach... not exactly the best player but I like to waddle around the park when I can

If I thought I'd be halfway decent I would. Rugby has always been more of a social activity for me. Good effort on you though my man!
