You know when we've been here for a while we get to know certain posters and recognise their style....
....It's like we know people, they are so familiar and either out a smile on our face, or enrage us  , but maybe we haven't spoken directly or interacted

I like forum knowing people. And there have been people whose forum postings I have a crush on for long before I even check out their profile and pictures to decide if I think they're sexy.
And actually I do do what you've suggested Midnight... well, I'll chicken out for several months, then send a message off the back of a thread, then eventually get around to saying "and I think you're sexy".
I say I do do it. I've done it twice. One is a really close friend and the other hasn't blocked me yet, so that's nice

I completely understand where you're coming from Midnight.
If I am a person that 'I kinda forum know NBVN' then I am happy for peeps to want to know more about me. Particularly if my posts put them more towards the negative end of the scale, let's talk it through

There are quite a few that we interact with in the forums
99% of the time they make us smile, but then there is always the 1% that let the side down.
Still, it's a great way of filtering out those that we would never wish to meet. |

What's really great is

The only time I did send a first message is when it's related to a forum topic.

I love the forums and have some great crack with some new aqaintances from here - always great interaction. It would be better to actually meet some at some point to see them in the flesh - that would be a novel social, if we all arranged a jolly somwhere to discuss Jaffa cakes and other hot topics in person |

I used to forum lots more than I get chance to these days. I forum-knew a few lovelies  … I added us to the mls social meet even thinking oh hello this’ll be fun … nearer the time I bottled it and pulled out … yup am chicken lol … it was just way too daunting

I don’t really forum know anybody that well just yet. There are a few people I regularly converse with, and one or two Id definitely to know in person. I’d I get to know enough of you, I may eventually jump on a social event.
But for now, I shall remain a cyber buddy to you all. I just can’t get my head into the prospect of sharing space with a whole load of strangers. |

For me, it’s mainly forum knowing. Too many great pics, faces, chats and threads to pick out. Unfortunately distance plays a part in actually meeting most. But those who I fab regular is a hint as to who I fancy/like/admire |

I am still relatively new compared to some of you here but I have enjoyed posting on the forum and seen others posting. We all have busy and sometimes stressful lives so even a post about jafa cakes or what we are having for dinner does sometimes help. I am not good when people go out of their way to cause conflict or hijack threads or being rude to people but have learned to ignore that as its only a handful of people that do that. Tbh, I have also learned lots of stuff and had some good advise from some very knowledgeable people on various topics. I am glad I joined and it often lifts my spirits to see some familiar names even if I have not interacted with them directly but also others I have not across before. |

I forum recognise some although haven’t forum spoke to the majority it’s easy to get lost in the sea of forum chats on here…but come across some great forum emoji over the years of forum lurking haha so so sad 
Would be nice to say in time I forum know you and enjoy your forum posts. Hopefully my soon to be first social (MLS) will put me on track to meeting some of you fab forum lot
