..I think I need to give up caffeine
I get headaches sometimes and not sure if it's because I drink too much coffee.
Slowly reduce the intake, is that the answer? Finding it hard. Think I'm probably addicted ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

Yep, I was addicted to Pepsi. Got tired, headachey and moody if I didn't drink enough in the day.
So I wanted to get off it, told myself "I don't drink Pepso anymore" (works better than "I'm quitting", as that gives you an excuse to just cut down) and switched to water. I had a bottle of water next to me all day, as you naturally then drink without thinking about it.
Head pounded for a week, but after that I felt so alive and awake, it was amazing!
I have to admit, I've had a tough year so far and fallen back into the caffeine trap, so I need to go through is again.
Good luck. |

"Caffeine can cause dehydration which will certainly cause you headaches. How is your fluid intake besides the coffee? "
Champagne and cocktails? Plenty. |

"Keep your hydration levels up! Coffee actually dehydrates you so you need to make up for it with more water "
This isn't actually true.
Yes, caffeine is a diuretic which means it increases your need to wee and so you loose more water from your body, but the effect of a coffee (or cola) is lesser than the amount of water taken in through the drink itself. |

Drinking caffeine-containing beverages as part of a normal lifestyle doesn't cause fluid loss in excess of the volume ingested. While caffeinated drinks may have a mild diuretic effect — meaning that they may cause the need to urinate — they don't appear to increase the risk of dehydration.
Still, caffeinated drinks can cause headaches and insomnia in some people. |
