has anyone ever organised one thats been successful?
im not talking about like the beach party as thats a club based event. just meeting up in a vanilla setting where there's no pressure and no playing but just an opportunity to all meet up and say 'hi'? |

Went to one in cov once that was really busy, mainly people from chat though so I didn't know many people. It was held in a local working men's club I think.
There were strippers etc but on the while there was just a party vibe about it and I saw very little play going on, until we got back to the hotel that fab had pretty much taken over lol
Have tried to organise one in Worcester a couple of times to varying success. |

its just me being selfish and curious as there are lots of folk id love to meet face to face but have no interest in playing with. plus due to other commitments would be ace to kinda meet everyone in one hit so to speak
either like a pub crawl type of thing in a city or hire a venue and make it a specific event rather than a casual 'turn up if you wanna say hi' |

I have been to lots of socials, mainly from other sites but ive been to a few off here too, not been for a while tho as i diont drive so now im single it limits me to how far i can go

I know logistics would be the ultimate factor and yes some people should they wish to attend would have to travel a long way... but it would be a great opportunity to meet people from all over in one go and have a blast of a night out with like minded 'friends'
Of course we are all adults and if play were to go on after then who is anyone to argue.. i just best get an invite to the after parties in various hotel rooms hahaha

Have a look at the recent Manchester Social thread 
That was a cross-over between a.n.other site and FAB
It originated over there, and TemptingDevil dragged it into here 
We've always held socials on this other site, and logistics of trying to get everyone to meet can be difficult, but it is Oh so worth it 
To actually put a face, voice, personality to someone you may have been chatting to for a long time is a little weird, but a lot of fun at the same time

I arranged one in York last year and, although it was reasonably successful with quite a few people turning up, I doubt very much I'd do it again. Chasing people, last minute messages, and people not happy with the venue made it a bit exhausting.
Also, as our Scottish brethren have found out recently, a large gathering of swingers tends to attract people of the journalistic bent. It didn't matter that it was a social gathering for charity, people were quoted from here in a newspaper and it all got a bit messy. So although I would be happy to attend an event organised by someone else, it does seem that there are people on the site that would try and spoil things just for shits n giggles. |

Over the 7 years I`ve been on the scene I`ve gone to many socials and I`ve got several name badges to prove! Been from Plymouth to Glasgow and Edinburgh and loads of places inbetween. The only problem I have on here is decifering which is a "proper" social and someone looking to meet up with a single or couple for drinkies. There`s so much going on! Too much sometimes!  |

I have been to a number of different socials over the years and none are the same.
My favorite is the Newcastle one which is meeting all in one place and head off around the bars and pubs in the pink area of the city.
Theres another one on 2 November. Details of organisers in the UK forum if anyone would be interested in going. |

Sounds interesting, I went to a local social once and found it quite difficult to chat to people coz they sat with friends etc. They were pleasant and polite but hard to get chatting due to the fact I was a newbie. Would do it again though |
