Like any label it is open to self defenition. Just having a couple of threesomes could be something if you chose to use to label oneself but probably it would be accompanied by the intention of having several more such sessions probably biding up to larger groups or varied similar combinations. Equally people who routinely have sex with strangers in a group are at the other end of the group and self define strongly as that.
Equally you can have occasional such sexual adventures and just see it as a bit of fun. No label needed.

For us a swinger is someone who can separate the act of sex and the emotion involved in relationships. They see sex as an extension of a good night with people they get on with and find attractive without socially enforced shame or taboos. That the like to enjoy the fact their significant other is having fun without jealousy as they know that emotionally they are still theirs. Well the traditional definition was people in relationships who engaged in partner swapping but I think it's progressed beyond that. I think it's more to do with engaging in the swinger lifestyle and the openess about engaging in recreational sex, potentially with more than one person. I think that's what differentiates single swingers from single people just having casual hook ups. I think part of it is about self identification too and relating to a community. A bit like what differentiates a kinkster from someone who experiments with BDSM but doesn't identify any differently because of it. |
